Look, sports are entertainment. Not life and death.
They are supposed to be fun and entertaining. If they no longer are that, then find something that is.

Have to admit that I don't get amped up over pro sports (and especially the Cowboys) as much as I once did. Probably a maturity thing.
But it's still fun if I allow it to be.

Don't take sport so seriously it is an entertainment business after all just enjoy watching if you have free time.

allegiance to this team (because my best friend was a Cowboy fan) is how my fandom started. my love for the game came from watching them (larger than life hero's) and learning to play myself.

I will probably be a Cowboy fan at heart til the day I die but in recent years I have been able to separate the purity of the game from the marketing, business, fluff parts of the game. That has allowed me to enjoy when they play well but not be overinvested in all the other aspects.

Every year I get excited about the new season. I listen to and read all the talk from Jerry and the coaches and players and as usual I am disappointed. After all it’s been how many years? Last year I refused to get excited and they actually had a good year until they stumbled in the first round. So it’s a wait-and-see approach for me!

My expectations are lowered and I'm just looking forward to the team providing some exciting games against hated rivals. The Cowboys front office doesn't act like they think it's going to be a big year, quite the opposite, so I'm just hoping they have a winning record and can provide some quality entertainment for me and my Dad. :)

I’m stoked for football. I love the game. Do I think we’re gonna win the whole thing? Nope. But you never know either. Three teams have won championships in our division since we last one and none of them thought that either.

Enjoy it folks. If it’s not this, it’s more Netflix reruns….

Some of us reached your level many years ago. We just watch, evaluated, predicted the outcome and were entertained one game at a time

Last year many of us knew the first 8 games were fools gold.

Lucy was place-holding the football for Charlie Brown to kick and many of us knew she'd pull the ball away, as usual

I get excited for every year because you never know.

Does my rational brain think this year will be any different than the last 27 years of Jerry built teams? Nope.

But I still enjoyed the ride last year even if the end put me in a pissed off mood I have not really recovered from as of yet.

But I will still watch every game and hope for the best.

I get excited for football in general, college and pros. I just like watching football.

That being said, for the Cowboys, I expect to get kicked in the nuts yet again this year. Why expect a different outcome than the one we've gotten for over two decades? I, and my ball sack, hope to be surprised.

I think a wait and see attitude is a good way to follow this team.
After 27 years of Jerry's failure to produce no more than 3 playoffs wins, it's realistic.
Jerry is Mr. Hype Machine... Every .. Single... Season...

Dont listen to the rest of these clowns. The Cowboys have a very good team. If we can avoid the injury bug then there is no reason why we cant have a good season. This is NOT a contender. It wasnt last year either.

You mean you expect to lose in the playoffs and not win the SB?

There is nothing wrong with some excitement/enthusiasm, just don't talk yourself into thinking anything is assured. The excitement should always be coupled with the realization that nothing is really known until it's proven on the field..

I can't imagine being miserable to a degree that you come to an internet message board to whine about how other posters feel about their favorite football team.
I can’t imagine being so miserable that I feel driven to make others feel miserable too. I can’t imagine whining about my supposed favorite team so much that others comment on it, then telling THEM that THEY are the whiners.

You don't have to imagine it.

You live it.
