Expectations and excitement for a season are 2 diferent things, if your someone who will hate life when the Cowboys lose (not be mad in the moment) but truly make everyone around you miserable then yeah thats a mindset you might want to take a look at. Excited for the Cowboys season to be starting is being a fan...get excited just know the season is going to have ups and downs and could end in a loss...

Every year I get excited about the new season. I listen to and read all the talk from Jerry and the coaches and players and as usual I am disappointed. After all it’s been how many years? Last year I refused to get excited and they actually had a good year until they stumbled in the first round. So it’s a wait-and-see approach for me!
That's too bad....every year bring new hope and expectations....just enjoy it.

We are the Lions and the Browns for the last 28 years as Coach Jerry stinks at his job.
Deal with it and really isn't worth crying about as hey everyone should have fun at the Circus!!!:omg:
P.S.One look at Training camp and our Coach should give you a good idea of what to expect.....

I think "they had a good year until they stumbled in the 1st round" erases any idea that they had a good year.

If you can't win a couple playoff games then it was just wasted draft position. That's how I look at it.

The 2021 season will be looked back on as just another failure.

The wait and see approach is the best option though for sure, but until they advance in the playoffs, don't get your hopes up. I don't care if they're 17-0.
Yep, I'm going to enjoy the wins as much as possible and try not to let the losses upset me. I won't get too excited until we have success in the playoffs. Last year I got too excited about beating up on bad teams. Last season's playoff loss was pretty hard to get over for me. Looking forward to the season but not getting my hopes up.

I think some fans unconditional trust this team every year and that's just setting yourself up for disappointment.

I think the Cowboys fanbase can realistic say that the Cowboys need to earn their trust back. The only way to earn it back is to advance in the postseason.

You mean you expect to lose in the playoffs and not win the SB?

I expect to barely miss the playoffs or get bounced in the first playoff game, again. If we make the playoffs, whether we are the 1 seed or the last seed, we'll likely lose that first playoff game. Possibly in bizarre or spectacular fashion.

That's my expectation until proven otherwise.

I would just NOT have any expectations, it's more realistic and more fun that way.

I'm always excited for football season, in general. When it comes to the Cowboys, I try to enjoy it week-to-week. If even wins make you mad because you're obsessing over the big picture then you're not going to get much enjoyment out of it at all.

Draft position sorts itself out at the end. I don't concern myself with it because, as far as postseason results go, it hasn't mattered in decades. Enjoy the ride, we all know how it likely ends. Who knows, maybe someday we'll actually get lucky?

depends who we play and how good the team is going in. Either way making the playoffs is nothing to be sad about.

not a bad expectation at all. Maybe crying is just your style.

I'm excited for football, if the Cowboys are successful it's a bonus.

At first glance we are not better now than last year so just have to wait and see.
I disagree, as of today they are better than they were at the same time last year. I think that Smith will be an upgrade at left guard. Tyron Smith is healthy at left tackle. Anthony Barr is a huge upgrade over Jaylon. Hooker is healthy to start the season. They are better off with Collins, Gregory, and Cooper gone. They have a real threat at kick returner in Turpin. Dak is healthy. The defensive line is improved across the board. Grier looks like he could be an upgrade as a backup qb. Overall it is very exciting to see the team developing as we get ready to start the season.

doesn't stand true... you traded back last year to draft an all-pro and pick up a 3rd round pick...

you should know that in the top 15 there are several busts so having "wasted" draft premium really only depends in your approaching the top 10

I am not aware of any rule requiring excitement for the upcoming season, especially about any specific team.

I get different levels of excitement every year when football returns because that's the only sport I watch. And I watch a lot of it every weekend.

I can't really say I get excited anymore but I most certainly look forward to the starting of the season.

In my youth I was through the roof amped over my '70s cowboys but there were certain things that were a given that kept us competitive at all times that we just do not have now and haven't had for almost 30 years.

We had a Hall of Fame caliber coach that prepared the team properly and forced them to be disciplined so they could perform in the biggest moments.
We had a quarterback who performed his best in the biggest moments.

We had a front office that knew how to build a team and used high draft picks on the defensive line when necessary which resulted in super bowl appearances.

Now unfortunately as excited as I want to be we have a coach for whatever reason who is unable to discipline the team a quarterback who last year refused to run and help his team and a front office that doesn't value the defensive tackle position.

Sadly we are able to acquire almost enough talent to get us over the hump but we make an art form out of being undisciplined at the biggest moments and shooting ourselves in the foot continually while our lack of strength in the middle of our defense lets us be exploited in the playoffs when everyone is good. I like Dak he is a good quarterback but he is not Captain America and unable to overcome these deficits.

You predicted 8 wins last season.
