This was mentioned after the draft. Philbin wanted a more polished OG (Green & Johnson), but those two guys went off the board early leaving Tyler Smith who the scouts had higher rated anyway.

I don't believe this. Broadus has been trying to drum up a story line about dissension between Philbin and the scouts for a long time now. This is his latest effort. Before this, he was going on about McGovern being a guy the scouts really liked but that Philbin has no use for. Not sure why he's working this angle so hard. Maybe he has friends in the scouting department with a hate on for Philbin.

Should I trust Joe Philbin more than scouts with college player evaluation?

also, not “totally” on board with Smith? So, they were a little on board?

i mean this thing is horribly run from the top down with Bozo and son, but who in the hell cares what Philbin thinks? I’d suggest he put his head down and concentrate on doing his job

Of course he has reason to lie. He's a journalist of sorts. This would be a story of sorts.

I have no theory. I've simply observed him trying to drum up this story before.

Offensive line coaches are not "overruled" on draft picks.

They can provide an opinion and it is likely considered, but there is no weight, power or decision behind it to be overruled or enforced.

The decision makers are at the top, which does not include position coaches.

This sounds like drama by broaddus. I don't buy it either.

Exactly. All 32 teams are run that basic way I would imagine.

Exactly! The title is such BS!
