Last year we witnessed a hidden gem in Steele. I'm not sure if it had to do with competition making him play better (Collins) or he really worked that hard to get better in the off season.

So far in camp I'm not sure he's looked that good. I know the season hasn't started, but is anyone concerned? God forbid the bad snaps mostly came against #11 and we know how terrible #11 is (ha ha). But is hunger still the same, I hope he builds off last season. Give me your thoughts

I am. Undrafted guys very seldom go on to be starting Olineman in the NFL. He just isn't a starter. Plus it is becoming more clear that Philbin is not doing a good job. I still hope that Ball or a camp casualty OT is the answer at RT. I would say Smith but I am sure he is going to be moving to LT at some time.

Go back and take a look at our Oline during the Super Bowl years in the 90’s. We had several UDFAs and low draft picks on a great Oline.

Someone needs to create another thread to call out Tyler Biadasz as well. Both Steele and Biadasz look horrible! They will definitely cost us with how bad they look. It's a clown show.

Terrance Steele is what he is. He isn’t great but he’s not horrible either. Most importantly, I would be very wary about watching TC videos to decide how any player is doing.

Sometimes the team is working on specific drills or new plays and what you’re seeing isn’t that indicative of how a player will do in a regular season game against real opponents. Sometimes a player does make a great play in a real matchup in TC but we don’t always know when those are happening.

Regarding TC videos: it goes both ways. Don’t get overly impressed or too concerned until we see meaningful competition.

Nope, not concerned. He’ll be fine. Collins was a fat tub of goo and is still up to his old ways in Cincy as we speak.
I tried their front office over ours any day of the week.

A few thoughts:

1. He is better than what he has been showing in camp… maybe conditioning, maybe rust, maybe just facing good competition

2. We have to find out if he can play. The FO loves him and cut Collins— so although this is an experiment— we have to see it through. Gotta roll with the punches and take the good reps with the bad and evaluate him on a full year’s body of work.

3. The D is in general far ahead of the offense thus far— which is not unusual in TC. Is the OL struggling bc they suck or bc our DL is solid and deep? No way to know until the preseason games kick in… and even then, the evaluation will be somewhat skewed/limited based on whether they face 1st, 2nd, or 3rd stringers.

I'm not too concerned .... yet. I can sorta see a young guy who has busted his tail for a few years just to make the team, earn playing time, etc., to maybe lighten up once he finally gets to be the presumed starter.

If he worked hard to get there, you'd think he will turn it up a notch if he isn't getting it done.

There is a reason Collins would have been a 1st round pick that became an UDFA and Steele was always an UDFA.

You do not lose 2 starters on the OL and do nothing to upgrade and expect miracle play from a new group of OL. This is the NFL and not Fantasy Football.

I was concerned about Steele before camp started. I am more concerned now. But it is early. We'll see.

It's Lawrence and Parsons loaded on Steele's side when you see that practice footage. Don't know what other teams have that option.

I'm very concerned. I don't think he was as good as Doug Free. Now if Tyron goes out for a few games, we're in trouble.
