Concerns:eek:ffensive line the center, right tackle and swing tackle.
The regression of Wright and Joseph. The Cowboys need to extend Brown immediately.
The defensive tackles appear to be JAGs.

Not going to panic but the penalties are a big problem.

The DTs were actually one of the bright spots for me.

why do we care about 17 penalties in week one of preseason

who cares commit 25 of them......refs are gonna flag you alot in preseason anyways and yes we still have discipline issues

but after 1 preseason game? relax

Penalties were the big story. I expected the reserve offensive linemen to struggle so I wasn’t too put off by it. I was disappointed by Wright and Joseph. I expected more.

Agreed. I wasn't necessarily disappointed in the offense because it was operated by Rush, but I expected our second-team pass defense to do better than it did. Now, the rush defense did better, but that might have been because it had some of our rotational guys mixed in against their backup linemen. (Of course, I'm sure Denver also had some rotational DL going against our backups.)

Some of the holding calls were very disappointing to me more because the officials flagged our OL for them. Same with flagging Sam Williams for roughing the passer. It would be nice to see these officials not be ticky-tack against us even if it's just a preseason game. From what I could tell, there wasn't a hold committed on either of the calls against Tyler Smith.

I am not sure that Dallas will make the playoffs this year.
I think you are right.

Every team in our division improved over the offseason. We got worse. If we don't win the division, we don't go to the playoffs. I don't think we win the division.

Jerry and Stephen have a way of sitting on their laurels after having a good season. They never seem to want to improve the team. Well, not in the last decade at least.

Probably not but I think the Tyler Smith pit stop at LG is gonna be a very rocky road until he ultimately ends up at one of the OT spots.
He looked good and bad. He had snaps where he absolutely dominated his man, but then he gave that sack. There was enough good for me to think he can improve enough before the real games start to where he cam be a plus starter this year

Next preseason game i tell the backup olineman to sling the dline into the dirt just to see how many times they'll actually call us for holding

There appears to be some gloom and doom about the OL after this preseason game. Maybe that's because there have been a lot of reports of our DL beating them in camp or maybe it's because of how the joint practice was reported. However, outside of Josh Ball, I didn't see any major concerns with the first couple of groups, other than the fourth-down play when we failed to pick up an interior defensive lineman. The protection wasn't bad and the running game got some decent blocking. We did have some protection issues later on, but that was with third- or fourth-stringers.

Like I said, I'll go back and look, but I think Ball's play, and the penalties (some of which were unfair), is skewing how the line is being viewed.
