There's something. An attempt to instill discipline.

But if we were really serious about getting rid of the penalties, we should have had more focus on the OL in the off-season. Philbin should have been the first one put on notice.

Cowboys penalties mar preseason opener as Dallas loses in Denver

But discipline is a team-wide thing. And 17 penalties in 60 minutes of football is a damning example of the lack of discipline on your football team, and doesn't provide much confidence that head coach Mike McCarthy has fixed the problem that did in his team late in the 2021 season.

I actually didn't think the pass protection was bad early on and there was some decent run blocking. The main suckage was from Ball. The primary problem on offense was Rush, the receivers and penalties. I tend to think it was more Rush than the receivers, though, since DiNucci was able to make some plays downfield to them.
Rush didn’t look good, he’s a backup for a re
You sure about that? Something is up with Tom Brady. 10 days off of camp and came out of retirement. The Bengals are good but they have holes.
Both teams are beatable, question is will Dallas show and play four full clean quarters and beat them?

That push was stupid at the end of the play

He just imposed an infraction on one of Quinn's boys.

Let's see how this one works out.

I agree. And I agree with benching him this game.

I just wish he would have done something about the OL. The time to have done that was in the off-season with the OL coach. The OL is where most of our penalties come from.

At least there was an attempt tonight. But I view that as reactionary rather than preventative.

It's too early to make any judgements but that was an ugly game.

Rush did not look very good but he won't if he is not protected. DiNucci has a little running speed to extend plays.

Ball is looking like a disappointment but it is his first game.

We never worry about depth, or quality QB backups. Preseason looks exactly like I thought it would so far.

Didn't watch the "game"... but from i read here, i guess i didn't miss much. Dallas back to their undisciplined play which MM said they would take care of this season. Guess they have a lot to clean up this week and if it continues against the Chargers, i see this thing escalating quickly. Dallas had 17 penalties to Denver's 8....hard to overcome that difference.

We got whipped last year.

We got manhandled in practice last week.

And then this lackluster effort.

We are definitely the Broncos ‘you know what.’

I hope it’s only that team and not a sign of what’s to come.

Seems like it's high time for the FO to find a decent backup LT to man that spot when Tyron goes down. They'd best take action before it's too late.

This was the first time DiNucci didn't look completely lost. That's a plus. Two more games like that and you'd think we'll cut Rush and keep him. And ideally Grier takes that backup role from Rush and if Nooch stays around it's as the third QB. It's the first time I've actually seen a little Romo come out in his play style.
