Lots of dang good games between the two back then. George Allen and the over the hill gang absolutely hated the Cowboys and the feeling was mutual.
They did not look like any other football team. They were older; some of them appeared to be out of shape and out of place. Compared to the Cowboys and other NFL teams they were just plain ugly IMO. I saw them play several times. And oh how I hated Allen and his "over the hill" gang. They gave the Cowboys fits for a few years. But to his credit and the team in general George Allen made it work for a time. He had a culture; a unity; and a dang good run for a few seasons. And make no doubt about Sonny Jurgensen could play QB...he was one of the best of his era. I still say they are waiting to retire his number until the end of this season because it is going to be his last in any capacity with the team (again, just my guess)

Before my time, don't remember him. I think the earliest Redstink QB I remember is Kilmer and at that point he was fat and old,,, as a kid I couldn't understand why they had that fat old guy out there...
Jurgensen
Guessing I am among the handful here that saw Sonny play. He could sling it.
I was around then...you are right about Jurgensen.

I will look forward to embarrassing the Washington Red Football Team Commanders (or whatever they’re called these days) on their home field that day. Sometimes that Wash whatever team is still my most hated rival. Going back to the early 70s.
Can’t we still them the Deadskins ? Lol

Romo was so good against them, Washington is retiring his number to break the curse. :D
When I think of watching Sonny play , Romo certainly comes to mind. Both were gunslingers of similar style .

I remember Jergensen and WR Charley Taylor a Grand Prairie native who passed away 6 months ago) were one of the best passing combos in the NFL during mid 60s to mid 70s.
I forgot about Charley’s local roots. Those old rivalries are what’s great about football.

We should embrace our bitter rivals . Just hate their fans . Lol

LOL. Took them long enough. When did he play? 40 years ago?

I guess they had to think long and hard about it.
Yep.....wow, I hope Sonny is still around to see it. Another bad move/late move by the Washington franchise.

I wonder if Wentz has met with any of his new team's QB legends - Jurgensen, Kilmer, Theismann, Williams, Rypien?
I’m sure they would rather meet a QB that actually can play instead of the stupid we all know as Wentz.

He does their game calls on the radio. He is a buffoon. Makes my skin crawl. He makes Jason Witten sound like John Madden. I know the guy is like 100 and another reason why he shouldn't be on air.
Jurgensen's last season of broadcasting was in 2018.
