Was once projected first overall pre ACL and sat out a year for Covid

Hes going to cost at least a 2nd / 3rd
They would have used a 2nd on him anyway.

2021 would have been a developmental year even if drafted by the Cowboys.

Jags have established starters at both OT spots.

That’s a good point take Tyron $ to pay Tunsil . As many injuries 77 has had and as serious as this one is it’s absurd to even think of a return ….ever .
Tyron has been a warrior but 2023 is the last year of his contract. Then you have to pay him again or move on. You might very well be doing him a favor, if he wants to keep playing, by letting him go and get that deal sooner

There are no worthy starting LTs peeps, try and understand this.
Sure we can try and stop the bleeding, but this LT situation that is an open wound that can only be repaired from within, the FO is correct on this.

They would turn the 2023 base rate into a signed bonus and factor it into this year (so it would be like a 9.5 million cap hit this year and 10 million next). A really good swing tackle is going to cost that much anyways so money clearly isn't the issue (you'd also get that entire 2nd year salary paid for by moving on from Tyron)
You could still do those things even with Tunsil on a 2 or 3 year deal. I don't expect Waletzco or Smith to play pure tackle by themselves till at least 2024 so a 2 or 3 year rental will immediately improve the team now and won't force you to draft or play someone if there not ready (especially since next years draft class isn't looking that great for tackle)

The Texans are unlikely to get a 1st for Tunsil.

Many media analysts suggested a 3rd.

I would give up a 2nd.

If they drafted a 2nd round OT...
Year 1 developmental season.
Years 2 to 4 on rookie contract.

Tunsil
Year 1 average 9.5M.
Year 2 average 9.5M.

Essentially one extra year starting for the draft pick.

Tunsil has proven ability.

Allows for dumping Tyron's contract (13.6M) prior to 2023.

The big issue is that Houston incurs a huge cap hit to trade Tunsil.

RT Jawaan Taylor’s contract is up after this year. So it’ll be much cheaper to keep Little and let Taylor walk. Taylor is their Connor Williams. Nobody really cares to keep him

Yeah I’m not with it. Witten too like you said. All Witten did was stop the progress of guys behind him. And as far as being a leader he’d sit there on the sidelines during a beat down as calm and cool as anyone.

Martin the same. If you see your team is down bad and you can essentially see play any position on the line…..why not at least offer to help?

if only this team had more selfish players like Witten and Martin:rolleyes:……..I’m picking up exactly what you layin down

I have no issue with them but if you’re talking what this team needs more of its big nastys not guys too cute to change positions…..

I have a lot of issues with those two selfish guys……..we lost leadership when we lost Randy Gregory.

Trade for Taylor and move Steele to LT.

They were 4-2 with Steele at LT last season.

Me, I would move Zach Martin to LT, put Conner McGovern at RG, and keep Tyler Smith at LG.
Moving from the right to the left requires a whole different technique. Martin hasn't played on the left since forever. We be better off moving Martin to RT and Steele to LT.

Just my opinion and opinions vary.

I agree with you totally I am against trading a 1 for Tunsil and actually would rather draft one next yr either round one or two .

But a 2nd for Tunsil is appealing with an average of only 9.5M for a top tier LT.
But but Stephen said the Cowboys drafted their LT in Tyler Smith, so why would they trade for Tunsil?

A 2 I could see . The Bucs are more banged up then Dallas on the line . Texans may hold out on teams for a one. Texans fans have to wonder when does the rebuilding stop and not trade a Tunsil let him protect Davis Mills and try and win with Lovie Smith .

I've heard some Texans fans say they thought Kyle Allen had a better camp/preseason than Mills.

Mills will get the starters job but it seems that he remains an unknown...
