no one in the league dealt with a cap. And this team won! And money in contrast with the rest of the league had nothing to do with it.

You missed my point. My point was that Jimmy was very successful in Dallas due to his skill in drafting, trading, player developement and so forth, but a lot of what he did wouldn't likely have been possible if a cap had been in place. Nothing against Jimmy, he was great at what he did....

Ive been a Cowboys fan since '53. I remember when Guts Hauser was GM and he would cut guys who refused to play with season ending injuries.

Thats when they featured guys like Tipper Finkleroy and Jasper O'Callaghan whom, as end zone celebrations, would do tours in Korea with the 1st Marines Division.

Those were the days
Cowboys team was formed in 1960.

Yet, here they are and so are we.

If you haven't accepted as fans we are going to need some luck on our side, then you are going to be unhappy.

Booger's full-time job is self-promotion and he hasn't never been a full time GM. He does what he wants to do and knows he will win anyway in the ratings and revenue.

"Are you not entertained"?..........Maximus Booger

Jimmy didn't do much in Miami. A lot came together to create those 4 years of dominance.

Jimmy was not a GM
The superscout? What would you say he was?

Jerry said Jimmy would “take care of the football” part and he’d take care of the “business part”. That makes me think Jimmy was essentially the GM.

We have Amatuers running our front office.
They mean well, but just don't have the skills necassary to to a quality job.
This puts us at a competitive disadvantage with the rest of the NFL.
There is a reason we have not been to a NFCC game in 25 years.
Jerry is the common denominator.
It goes a bit deeper than that. Stephen Jones is a big part of the mediocrity equation as well. E = mc² (Egotism = major-cluelessness-squared)

We haven’t had a GM since Jimmy. Jerry is a terrible GM and has a trap that wont stay shut. He has no idea how to be head of football operations. He just blabbers away every day about nonsense as if he know what he’s talking about. Shut the trap! Until he steps down and lets a real GM run this team we will always be assured everything is great but will never really be prepared to win the big game again and if and when his mini- mo rises to the position by death or appointed nothing will change. Even then, Jimmy wasn't the GM. Where have I heard your dribble before? It's so original.

Parcels did a decent job restocking the shelves. He inherited a 5-11 roster with no QB and left us with 13 pro bowlers and the franchises all-time leading passer. I still wonder what would have happened if he had stuck around for the 2007 season.

As fans I don't see why we just don't enjoy the 90's for what they were. No one should care whose most responsible for our success back then. The words 52-17 should bring a smile to all of our faces. The words 3 in a 4 year span should bring a smile just the same.

I look at our struggles over the last 26 years and I blame Jerry. I blame Jerry for not seeing the importance of having a good defense. So here we are in the mist of building a championship caliber defense with McCarthy and yet fans still complain. We are on the right path right now. Let's just hope it continues.

Those 90's teams had a top notch defense and a top notch offensive line. The debacle that we're all witnessing with our offensive line right now, will lead to one and only one outcome. A rebuilt and refurbished offensive line. If our defense continues to get stronger next year and we rebuild the office line next year. Then the sky's the limit, guys. McCarthy wanted a strong defense in Green Bay, they wouldn't let him build one. McCarthy wants a strong defense in Dallas, Jerry is letting him build one.

Wake up as see what's really going on with this team. This year is a blessing in disguise. So who deserves credit for moving his team in the right direction?

ALL THAT ARE HEAVILY INVOLVED SHOULD SHARE CREDIT.

Jimmy was not GM, never handled any contracts including that of Emmitt, Irvin or Aikman. Jimmy was hired by the Dolphins as HC/GM and did not fair well. You have people going on about how he could not get rid of Marino when in Miami? Why? he was the GM. I'm a big fan of Jimmy and respect him but he was not a GM in Dallas

You guys ever get tired of posting the same thing over and over again? I really can't wait until the season starts and then I only have to come across these posts inside of threads instead of them having an entire thread dedicated to it. Jerry will always be the GM until he dies, like Al Davis. Stephen will then become the GM, probably until he dies. Then another Jones will take over. They have a large family, there will always be someone to take over. Get used to it, change fandoms, or pass away, those are basically your only options.

ie did it all by himself and had zero help from the Jonses,:facepalm::muttley:

he waasnt the gm , he was more like the HC and director of player personnel type just like BillP..

to say we dont have an experienced GM or FO after they were around since 1989 and played college football they eat and breathe football but know nothing about football? they didn't learn anything from Jimmy or BillP or any of the seasoned coaches and fo people that came through here? nothing at all, they are still green and inexperienced?

I that hard to fathom. Not sure how history could have been changed by hiring and firing 5 or 6 GMNS over the last 30 years would have changed anything. Jerry is the owner all things run through ownership and yes owners of any business/Corportation's have control and make most if not all decisions. so a GM in title does what differently? ive seen team lie the browns, jets, and jags hire and fire many gms and still not won anything the last 30 years LOL is that the blueprint? maybe but no guarantee or Jerry most likely would have done that already.

IMHOP Mcclay has been the GM for 5 years or more and while he doesn't handle all the duties not much else would change except the fan narrative if they went and hired a former NFL gm , Mcclay is that guy but say what you want the poor choice of idiotic threads keep coming.

dont watch, don't follow, don't claim, and don't participate if the jonses bother you that much,..compaingi daily wont change those facts they are owner and will be for 30 more years as the family business gets handed down.

deal with it without contestant ranting or move on.. I support the Star that represented on the helmets and will do so no matter who owns the team..its just reality, its been here and will continue to be,,.no amount of internet whining and old tired narratives will change that.
