Why should I stay a Cowboys fan?

I very much am a fan. I've been supporting this team for a long time, and I still intend to do so. But can you at least understand why I'd at least be questioning it, even if it was for a moment? Especially with the lack of success I have seen. There's no team I'd cheer on besides the Cowboys.
Honestly, no I can not. We all want success, but lack of success can't change the fact you are a fan. How long has it been since the browns have won a SB?

I plan to stay a Cowboys fan as long as I can stomach it. For the longest time, I've been a diehard Cowboys fan. However, I just have to ask. Why should I stay a Cowboys fan? This is the first time I can remember truly questioning it. However, the statements Jerry made about essentially wanting us to be talked about being more important than winning guts me as a young fan. I started watching this franchise in about 2000. I gobbled up everything Cowboys, and I still always want to stay on this board. That said, what's the point of cheering on a team when the owner cares more about the Forbes Bowl than winning the Super Bowl? It's clear now why he makes the moves he makes. It's clear to me now why he won't do what it takes to win, such as a proper GM, better coaching, and why it's always one side of the ball that's atrocious and one side that's not.

I'm writing this thread to ask for help. Help me to understand why I should stay a fan. I plan to do so just because I don't have another team I'd support, and I enjoy this board. Overall, I still very much enjoy the Cowboys, and I like our players. However, Jerry's statements felt like a slap to the face when I've taken every insult from other fans. I spurned the Eagles, whom most of my family supports. I spurned the Broncos when my favourite animal is clearly a horse. I spurned the Texans when they started to stay a Cowboys supporter. I've happily taken the insults. And for what? A team who is run by an owner who couldn't care less about winning?

Again, I'm NOT quitting the Cowboys. I'm more venting my anger with what Jerry stated and asking for help on why I should carry on as I plan to do so as a Cowboys fan.

Also, for those who say "You're a quitter", I've been one of the most positive fans on this board. I've always tried to stay positive no matter what. I'm still trying to stick to the Cowboys. Also, how would you respond to Jerry's comments if you were in my shoes having never seen us get to the NFC Championship game?
Two answers:

1. Loyalty matters. A lot.
2. This too shall pass.

To answer the opening question - because Dak Prescott will only be the QB of the Dallas Cowboys for a few more years.
And then we'll get somebody else who won't win the big one. I wanted to move on from Romo. It didn't help. QB is not the issue here.

We're not Cowboys fans because of Jerry Jones. However, you unfortunately do not have all the history before Jones to build your fanship on.

I would just say it's still about the team, about the players, about the star and not about the owner. We hope the best for those things despite the owner.

It's not that you stop being a fan, it's that you have degrees of fandom.

The Cowboys used to be the love of my life. Every day no matter what time of year I was constantly engaged and during the season I was almost out of control. I would be wildly ecstatic if we won and depressed until Wednesday if we lost. I always tell people have a passion for SOMETHING.

Now, thanks to Jerry, his ego, his self-righteousness and his selfishness, that love has turned into a friendship. Oh I'm still around to hang out with the team and we have some good times now and then but you are just a friend Nothing more and nothing less and that is truly a shame.

Similar situation here. I'm a few years older than you, and vaguely remember Super Bowl XXX. I would literally do anything to witness a Cowboys Super Bowl in my adult years. If you came to my front door tomorrow with a check for 20 grand or a Lombardi, I'm picking the Super Bowl every time. I'm tired of being let down, and the Jones boys aren't winning anything. I know this.

But.

I just have too much going on in my life professionally and personally to become personally angered by the commentary of an 80 year old billionaire redneck. Life's too short. I can also tell you, as a diehard Charlotte Hornets fan who had season tickets for years, things could be a LOT worse.

Chin up, man and enjoy the show. It is just entertainment at the end of the day.

I root for the Cowboys and the Bills. I follow the Boys and Bills up until the Boys lose in the playoffs and then enjoy the Bills.
Twenty seven years of nothing makes you yearn for a team that cares about it's fans.
do THe bills care about their fans? I mean, after all, how long has it been since their last title? ah crap, I almost forgot, they have never won a title.

I see. Cuz I'm still a supporter of the Cowboys, but I'm not quite as passionate as I once was. I'm still delighted when we win, but, when we lose, I'm sadly becoming accustomed to it. Also, I don't really expect us to get to the NFCC.

I'd take the Lombardi in that scenario too, and yes it is entertainment. However, am I wrong for wanting a bit more from the franchise?

Yes, and I like our players and coaches overall.

Even if I don't agree with all the player and coaching choices, this is my team and it's bigger than one player or coach or egomaniac. I guess that's why fan comes from fanatic. I chose to follow the Dallas Cowboys, and I can't see myself quitting over something the owner says or does or anything else really. He's not the Dallas Cowboys; he just happens to have been rich enough to purchase them, but they still belong to the fans because we care more about them than he ever will. His main concern will always be the bottom line. Ours is seeing our team achieve glory, and we all hope to do that again either despite Jones, with Jones or after Jones. Whatever it takes.

Yah, you’re missing the point. The vast majority of teams value winning as much, or more, than just making money. If teams were just about making money, they would have their GM and Owner focus on marketing and have their VP for Personnel prioritize getting players for the least amount of money they can.
hmm, so I guess the Jets, Dolphins, Bills, SEahawks, Browns, Falcons, Panthers, Raiders, Chargers...... you know, all the winning teams, those teams have real GMs that really prioritize winning?

Yes, and I intend to keep it that way. However, I think it's understandable that someone my age with the lack of success the Cowboys have had and Jerry's imbecilic remark would have the questions I had been thinking.

Questions are like fur: They cause you insecurity i.e. will it be too hot for fur ?
Also, fur like questions can be a fashion statement or ostentacious consumerism.
In closing, let me say this:
Fur made this country what it is. (But no ties to Roller Derby, mullets or banda music at 3 a.m.)

But, exult in fur in the feral, forested fountainous landscape and good luck in your fuscia endevours.

The team has won nothing for 26 years yet Jerry continues to employ the same GM that has failed to win any championships, or even get the team to one championship game. That’s how much he values the football side. Now ponder this: if the team had been losing money or value that long do you think he would wait 26 years to make a change ?
I can name you about 20 teams that have gone through coach after coach after coach, followed by GM after GM after GM that have won jack squat. But hey, at least they tried bringing in a great coach like Patricia.. right?

Oh I agree, but the comments were silly from him and were rather insulting. It's a bit like a musician during a concert telling the audience that they care more about their sales than the fans. Obviously, the fans know that, but it's still insulting as the fans are the ones buying the music and going to the concert.
