There isn't anything they can do. They completely mismanaged the QB position and kept screwing it up. Its so bad that the team is crippled for the next 3 years no matter what they do. Even if you bring in a serviceable backup, he's not going to be able to play for 2 to 3 weeks, which is half the time Dak will be out. I guess you could get Kap and let him just run around and get killed by week 6 or so. Wouldn't cost you much. They tried to get cute and put everyone on the practice squad instead of being serious about developing the position. They need to draft someone next year and if they give Dak another contract they are even more dumb that I already thought. They have to rock with Dak until at least 2024 and even then its a 40 mil cap hit. But if you draft a rookie then it might be worth it. It should be obvious by now Dak is not the answer. MM is done. The team is in really bad shape. the WR position is a joke. Lamb is a 2 at best. Dude drop way to many passes. He has never been a won and never should have wore 88 let him get whatever jersey he wants. Who knows what Gallup is going to be like, but he is a solid 2. We have no #1 at all. Oline is ok, time to let Tyrone Smith be your swing Tackle or let him walk He's hurt way to much. Need to find a LG. I think Steele is serviceable but need to get the penalties under control. Honestly the best option is to just ride the season out with what you have. Anything you do to try and help this year is going to waste resources because it is not going to help

The plan of 'make Dak make up for lack of talent' didn't work out. And now that he's injured, we just have a lack of talent.

What are they going to do? Suddenly realize they have a playmaker on their roster they didn't know about?

This team was always going to fail, because the GM's strategy of 'do nothing and hope for the best' predictably didn't pan out

Dak being out will be the excuse over the next few weeks even though the reality is Dak is not that good - a JAG will get the same production.

Unless MM stands for Merlin the Magician, what answers is Mike McCarthy supposed to find? His roster is his roster. He didn't even have a say on his OC.

He was always just going to be Jerry's next scapegoat. That's the gig in Dallas.
I am not a fan of our executive management (namely Jerry and Stephen) but in all fairness McCarthy brought in most of his staff and decided to keep Moore. He could have brought in another coordinator if he wanted to but liked what Kellen was doing.

This season was over when we jettisoned our #1 WR for a meaningless 5th rd pick, let our 3rd best WR walk away, and retained the one with a torn ACL with a big new deal, cut our 27 year old RT, made no effort to address swing T, and token attempt to fill the RDE spot.

This predicament is the very expected outcome of those foolish decisions.

Sorry to see Dak get injured.

As for Big Mac, his records after he has lost his starting QB to injury in the past are set forth below.

He went 5-11-1 in GB after Rodgers went down with injuries in 2013 and 2017, respectively (5-13-1 if the 2 games Rodgers went down in with the Packers in the lead or tied are included).

He was 4-7 in 2020 after Dak went down in week 5 that season.

Remember when McCarthy swore he'd fix penalties issue before this season?

Finding answers and fixing problems is not really his thing.

He just likes to make you think it is.

Creative scheming, motivating a team facing adversity and fixing problems have never been Big Mac coaching strong suits.

What Big Mac has always been best at are 2 things.

First, letting his players just go and play and creating very few distractions around them. In other words, he excels at staying out of the way.

Second, he is as as loyal to and compliant towards those who cut his checks as anyone who has ever coached an NFL team.

Those hoping for a dissenting word from the Cowboys' head coach about those responsible for putting the roster together just have the wrong guy.

Big Mac is as loyal to his "superiors" as any human can possibly be.

how so rosters noit bad but Daks huge hole gallup and Washingtons coming back, defense played great under those circumstances. So good STs , great defense, just find or trade for anther QB to just not mess it up while maki few plays until dak gets back centered around a strong run game.. this is far from over. Please stop the there's no change nonsense. Rosters NOT BAD it was one game.. you think GB, 9ers, cinci, titans, NE, and rams are giving up?

fans attitudes laying down like losers..i say with 16 left so much can happen. tough yes huge hole to fill yes.

show me all coaches with great qbs who play as good without that qb..not many overcome it..thats a fact., not scrub going down and another scrub replacing him but losing great qb and still saving a season?? not many on that list.

Mike M isn't Jesus - he can't turn water into win.

WR group - well below average. Our "#1" WR is dropping bals like a 12 year old boy
OL - WAY below average
RB - average MAYBE
QB - #33 in the league

I would not want to be MM right now.

Remember this?????? We all KNEW Weeden wasn't the answer but took Jerry three games to see it. In other words, don't look for them to sign a legit backup or upgrade over Rush until he losses a few games.

Weeden began the season again as Romo's backup. During a Week 2 game against the Eagles, Romo fractured his clavicle and Weeden closed out the win. It was announced that Romo would be placed on short term IR, which left him designated to return November 22, and that Weeden would be the starter at quarterback. Even though he was preparing to be the starter, with owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett commenting on his positive progress the Cowboys covered themselves by trading for Matt Cassel on September 22. Weeden started three games, completing 71 percent of his attempts for 666 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions, but lost all three games. On October 13, the Cowboys decided to bench him and instead play Cassel, who started four games (all losses). On November 17, Weeden was waived to make room for Romo, with the team deciding to keep Cassel as the main backup.[1
I say let this year speak for itself and i believe they will try to get better option at QB. if they dont we can discuss it but ill allow them afew weeks to go make deal and get a better option in here.

While I agree with this, I still don't believe a fully healthy coached MM squad like last year's team was paints him as totally un deserving of blame.

I will share again that the fire triangle to success in the NFL is successful GM, HC and QB1.

At the root of the problem in Dallas, no doubt is GM.

That absolutely does not negate the responsibility/accountability of the other 2 even IF the GM hired them both.

They too are poor at their job and share in this blame.

Season was over with a healthy Dak. An entire offseason and all they could muster was 3 points?!?!?

You're assuming Jerry would have let that happen. I think Moore was forced on him.
