I know the Cowboys gave up a lot of yards rushing last night. Was it scheme, ability, or something else?

The defense looked pretty decent against the run at times last night. Other times it looked like a sieve.

State your case as to the “why”. Thanks in advance.

What do you focus on when playing vs Tom Brady. Run or Pass...

Answer: Pass

Run defense still not good enough but you cant fix everything in one draft. LVE must have photos of someone doing something they shouldnt.

The right side (weak-side) of the defensive front was getting moved around. I rather let Sam Williams get more reps if this continues.

Also, maybe DQ could beef up the front like he did in SEA, by moving Osa to DE on early run downs or putting in Golston.

I didn't watch it a second time and definitely won't, but it sure seemed like they were weak inside per usual.

Gallimore and OO did nothing that I noticed.

Bohanna made a play or two.

But I thought a 5th round draft pick was supposed to solve this.

I really don’t have any issues with the defense at all. We played the GOAT who has two stud WRs. We gave up yards on the ground but only 19 points. 24 hours ago I think all of us would have been happy with that.
I definitely have issues with the defense. They gave up the 8th most yards on the ground yesterday, TB completely had their way running and that cant happen. We were two Micah Parsons sacks away from losing 27-3.

Armstrong kept leaving the edge uncovered. No contain from that side. The cornerbacks kept having to step up to turn the run back in and there was nobody there to fill the void when they did. They ran away from Lawrence because he is good at edge control. LVE had 9 tackles, but as with Jaylon Smith, tackles made 8 or 9 yards down the field are useless stats. Then when Hill stunted towards the outside to stop that off-tackle run, they ran a play right where he stunted away from. Stunts can disrupt a running game, but it is often feast or famine.
But with that said, they only gave up 19 points to Tom Brady.

Miscues....

Playing Parsons in space early...he's more effective as a pass rusher.

Where was Barr? Thought he would get snaps

Same for Cox...inactive? Inexcusable

And why on God's earth do they keep trotting out Anthony Brown? Teams target him ...and he repeatedly gets burned.

Gilmore is on the verge of eating himself our if the league. Keep hearing breakout player...I keep seeing slow get off..lack of change of direction.

Sadly...our pass rush was pretty much non existing without Parsons...

Basham...another guy that brings nothing...progress stopper for Sam Williams.

Our 2nd round picks...on defense. Play them or cut them. We are past the point of ridiculous.

Blimey! Our D reinvigorated Fournette's career last night. I think he ripped off like 40 yards on one series.
Our D sucked because
1. It is overhyped (The mantra centered on St. Quinn)
2. We have fat D linemen who are largely immobile except to go straight ahead or fall on their arses.
3. Our D is a collection of no-names, almost-ares and second tier (parsons excluded)

I thought that for the most part the Cowboys run defense got gashed by the Bucs…they were not physical at point of attack, couldn’t get off blocks and were poor tacklers.

I thought I read something about our DC saying how deep we were and how we were going to roll and get after Brady. Well…I didn’t see that at all, with exception of Micah’s sacks.

I have high hopes for the defense, but they can’t be stout for all 4 quarters…they will get gassed; we need the offense to carry some of load, eat some clock and score some points…which they have not been able to do since early last season.

I love the Cowboys and no matter how much they have disappointed me over the years I can’t root for another team. But our coaches refuse to scheme: we don’t take our opponents’ best weapons away, we don’t play to our strengths, we don’t put our players in positions to be successful. When was the last time we made an adjustment in-game? I see other teams be dynamic with lesser talent, so I think to myself why can’t we do that?

But then I remember who we have at the helm calling the shots, desperate to be recognized as football guys…

I wouldn't be too concerned if the Buccs had offensive line issues going into the game. The offense sucked far worse and the defense bailed us out so its kind of tough to knock the defense but make no mistake if they play like that? It will get worse for them as the season goes on. If they had problems with Foursette wait until they get ahold of Mixon.

Yes, but we would have expected we would have at least scored 20. Run defense is suspect yet again.

The way our offense was playing, we couldn't afford to give up quick scores. We had to play bend don't break and I think we were willing to "give" them the run and focus on preventing the big pass plays from TB12 and their good WRs.

But we have Micah Parsons to do those types of things. Which means our defense is going to be fine.

The Bucs physically took it to the Cowboys last night. They proved that by unleashing Lenny on them for a career night. The Cowboys DBs are MIA on run defense and that is a huge liability in Nickel, the predominant formation.

Cowboys were bad vs run.

Gave up 130 yards.

It was ugly as sin.

Between tackles, on the edges, didn't matter, Bucs ran at will.

BS. You don't give a team over 5 yards/carry and 150 yds rushing willingly. That is some major spin, mister.
