Jason Whitlock is a idiot who has a history of hating players like Dak so of course he thinks it’s a mistake. Dak plays one bad game and now he’s bad lol. Y’all eat it up and take the bait lol.

They could have extended him earlier back in the end of 2018. They didn't extend him, but they also didn't have a backup plan in place which manifested itself in 2020 when he got hurt. Every year they waited, they cost themselves more money. What if they extend him after 18' , does that give them more flexibility to add more pieces or retain a few? We'll never know because they waited.

I didn't even know who Jason Whitlock was before this thread and yeah... after a quick google search it is rather obvious what the subtext is when he says "player like Dak".
He's built a career out of doing it. Dates back to Michael Vick and Donovan McNabb. Has made some disgusting comments about Serena Williams as well. A hack and glad he got replaced on Fox even though I don't watch the show but just glad he lost that gig lol

I just looked through some of his recent stuff and I am actually pretty shocked at some of the things he says. It is very obvious he has built a career playing to a certain group's prejudices.

Water under the bridge. The contract was a bad mistake, as was the contract he did for Zeke and DLaw before that. Jerry can't help himself. He has no idea what he is doing.

The question is what to do now. Dak's deal is good until 2024 then he has two voided years, which means he will want a new deal. If he wanted $40 million before, then what will he ask for next? He wasn't worth $40 million and he is not going to be worth more than $40 million in 2024. Not having a QB is scary but if they do things right, they could resurrect the team like they did in the 1990s.
One problem with that theory is Jimmy is not here.

Comparing what Brady makes and what Dak makes is a bit misguided. The numbers are not a reflection of their values, it's just a reflection of the fact that Tom Brady wants to win at all costs and he's already made his money. He is worth 1/4th of a billion dollars and isn't even the wealthiest person in his own household.

Lastly, anyone who is going to blame Dak for not getting every dollar he can is just lost at space without a tether. Every player looking at their 1st big contract is going to (and should) get all they can. It's up to ownership not to screw it up.
I would have took my chances and let him walk, sign a vet for a yr,draft a QB and go from there..imo

Agree, then pay him and look at him and tell him “you know we are overpaying you”. What?

If I was playing football... my goal would be to get a ring. That is the achievement of a lifetime.
If I am already making $20mil a year, but I could be making $25... but that $5mil would give me a better chance of getting to the ring... damn right I would give up the $5mil.
Exactly...if you can't live on 20 mil a yr,there is something very wrong with your lifestyle.
