Payton thinks he's a football HC god. His resume is identical to MM's. Including one SB each with a hall of famer quarterback. Only difference between the two, Payton has been in the NFL one year longer than MM. To top it off, he's a control freak in which players loathe.

If Jerry & him would have wanted it done, it would have happened soon as Payton left the Saints. Waste of time talking about it.

Payton is absolutely a better coach than McCarthy.

Payton is a better Xs and Os guy, more creative than McCarthy, and would actually compliment Moore rather well. And DQ could do his own thing with this defense, I presume, if Jerry paid him as much if not more than a head coach, which he definitely should given the job he's done with the Dallas D.

I'm also a fan of Bones. Dude does a good job, even if he isn't the most interesting guy to interview.

"The most important element is functional ownership [and] front office ... because there's a handful of teams that aren't, and those teams, regardless of what takes place, they can win on Sunday but they have trouble winning long term," he said. "The opportunity to win consistently and the willingness to build the correct culture and all those things."

In other words, he's not coming to Dallas.

You think something has changed since Payton was here

If he has that as his basic criteria now, what makes you think it was different from before?

Parcells?

Definitely sounds like where ever he decides to go he wants a lot of control over decisions.
And that will be why he wont come to Dallas. Too much meddling and too much drama. Jerry doesnt get a second bite of the apple. He has burned his bridges and we never see ex Cowboys coaches come back to work in this Real House Wives country club.

Sean would come here in a heartbeat guaranteed! I don’t see giving up high draft choices as an option though.

He turned down a $20 million/year offer from the Dolphins to take a $10 million/year gig with Fox.

He doesn't need Jerry's money, which is why he'll be selective if/when he coaches again.
Well now, thanks for that golden nugget of information!

The only way he ends up with Dallas is if Booger decides it is time to give up the GM job. And he could do that in order to hire his friend.

I think Payton is the most overrated HC out there and he walked off on his team because he screwed up the QB position. He also screwed up that playoff game but the no call PI saved him.

A HC is a leader. Is walking off on your team because you screwed it up a desirable leadership quality.

We'll see how the season goes? If things go south enough for Jerry to clean house. One and done or they don't make the playoffs at all and this could happen.

Rather promote Quinn

Jerry would promote Quinn and probably keep Moore!

If the season doesn't end well I'd rather hire an offensive minded coach and a shift in philosophy on that side of the ball.

Would it surprise anyone if either Quinn or Moore were the next HC of the Cowboys? I don't see Payton coming to Dallas as the HC unless he has total control. Just my IMO

No its a recurring nightmare that it will be Moore. DQ i would be fine with.

If he did in fact hire Moore that would be a mind blowing turn of events. I don't care if other teams are interested. I want some experience here. If Jerry hires him, we're screwed.

Carolina, Indy, or Seattle seems most likely. All 3 coaches are on the hot seat.
We are getting Moore and you guys will like it, says Jerry Jones. Scott might be back as OC or Jason
Garrett. :)

Sounds like he wants the authority to dictate and build the culture the right way. He wants to be the question answerer for the organization and besides the start players, he wants to be the face of the franchise. Kinda like Belicheck, Tomlin, and McVay.

The benefit of not being desperate for another job and being in demand, both of which will apply to him if he decides he's ready to coach again.
We like to hire them when they're desperate.:laugh::laugh:

If Payton came here Moore would be here, MM had to accept him due to have no leverage in negations. Payton would have leverage.
