He won't play again this season. Wouldn't be surprised if he never plays another snap for Dallas.

So what if OT Tyron Smith is healthy again in December ?
As Jerry claims the club is optimistic he'll be.

Sure Tyron is a future Hall of Famer when he retires, but what will be the game plan at starting LT when he supposedly is healthy again ?

Does he get his starting LT job back, and we move Tyler back to LG ?
Or does Tyron become the swing tackle -even over Jason Peters ?

i wouldn't think so with Tyler playing and developing so very well at LT.that the club
would want to change that role.

Does Jerry value Tyron that much that the current dynamics could change ?

I'm not trying to sound like a debbie downer here, but this is the NFL and the odds are that we are going to probably lose at least one, maybe two oline guys by the time December rolls around.

It is very rare for all 5 openning day starters to make it to week 17, all it takes is one single play and you are gone for the season just like the Chargers just found out with Slater and the Titans found out with Lewan.

So if Tyron Smith is totally healthy, there will be a spot for him to play on the oline because somebody aint making it to the end of the season.

Guessing they rotate him in every 3rd series until he gets back up to speed. After that who knows other than it’s a nice problem to have!

Is there a clue to Cowboys FO thinking here?

Freaking great watching our tackle out there like that.

They’re just getting started. I don’t think was a lot of confidence yet on the play calling in previous weeks but now that the starters have proven themselves, I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of those outside runs that were gaining yards for Pollard.

I have a feeling Dallas is going to leave him on IR for the remainder of the season. Even if he can come back it won't be until the 16th game of the season any way. Unless there is a big injury on the line I think Tyron stays on IR. This will be like when Dak replaced Romo and never gave the job back.

As for next year, I don't want to think about it. Tyron was such a good player for so long I'd hate to think they just cut him unceremoniously. I would hate to see him put on another uniform. If he comes back the Cowboys will be rich in OTs. It is a good problem to have.

But I will say this, Tyron cannot get downfield to block on those run plays the way Tyler and Steele can. Tyron can anchor better and stuff rushing DEs but he has also lost some lateral mobility and he cannot slide out to get the quicker pass rushers anymore.

Hey it's nice to have options but in the words of my grandfather

We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

That said it would be great to showcase him have him play well and be able to get a third round pick for him from a team like the Bengals in the off-season.

This is a vehicle that needs to be gotten rid of while it's still running your hamstring does not just tear off the bone for no reason there is just too much mileage on this unit.

I love the guy but it's time for him to be somebody else's problem

Tyron did play RT his rookie season. However, Steele has been mostly solid so far.

I get the feeling that when the season is this long, there will be a use for everybody at some point. It's not like the Cowboys have used up their share of the injuries or other issues, it's a never ending supply.

His hamstring came off the bone. Tyron is not playing this season again.

You're probably right about that, and them playing Tyler at LT points in that direction. Tyron is an elite LT. If he's healthy, he plays LT. If they expected that coming down the road, or into the future, they would be putting Tyler back at LG when Peters comes in full time so he wouldn't be switching again when Tyron comes back.

It’s Tyler’s job now.

If Tyron is healthy. There’s nothing wrong with having him as a backup tackle. Incase Tyler or Steele get hurt.

Yep, wrap him in bubblewrap and take him out when you need him in case of emergency. But i seriously doubt he will be ready to play this season. His future is a question right now.

Is playing G easier on the body than T? Can Tyron play LG and possibly make him last longer? He's still underpaid for a G let alone a LT, so his contract isn't an issue

I think plugging Tyron in at LG makes more sense and I think you will see the power of Tyron. His biggest problem was the speed where he won't have to worry as much. You move Peters to our swing T. Lets not forget Peters is 40yrs old.
I seriously have doubts that Tyron makes it back this year. If he decides to still play next year Im keeping him and playing him at LG.

If Tyler keeps playing like this Tyron will have to be utilized elsewhere.

I suspect they would hold him out unless needed. We may have seen the last of Tyron in Dallas. Love the guy, but his body has betrayed him. For his own health I hope he hangs em up.

Tyron is done. Really love the guy and respect what he did as a Cowboy. He can be the swing tackle for the push. I know jerry loves his players but, after 32 games missed and not a full start since 2015 its time.

It's a business.

If Tyron comes back and we’ve got the rest of the line fit and healthy, we then have some serious depth.
