He's atleast a few weeks away, the absolute fastest a fracture can heal is 4 weeks. The fact he needed surgery suggests it was likely more serious. Couple that with the fact it's his throwing hand I would still be shocked if he's ready to play before Oct. 23rd against the Lions.

Love the optimism on his return, but I don't buy a return this week. Bur mine as well keep it going so defenses have to maybe prepare for 2 QBs ;) lol

I know Dak wants to play but he needs to be fully healed before being thrown into action.

no reason to rush back with the way Cooper has played

It's best Dak take his time to fully heal his broken hand. Cooper Rush is doing well, so no need to rush Dak. Plus, as others have mentioned, Dak could benefit to take a seat back and watch some film together with Cooper and Kellen to get a better understanding of what he has been not seeing. Making things simpler can actually be more beneficial.
This. You have hit the nail on the head here, and so well balanced too, cudos. :)

This is the way to go. Cooper has bought Dak the time to get back in tip top shape to play his best football again without being forced to come back too early. He's doing what a good backup should do, keeping us "in the race".

When Dak is fully healed and ready for action he will take his place at the helm, no matter what some peeps (whose opinion I respect though) here think. Even Cooper is humble enough to know that. He just took his chance and enjoys every moment of it. And that's a lot of fun to watch. Even when he will lose eventually.

But, and this is my personal view, Dak will be in charge again which means he will get the main applause or heat again too, depending on whether he wins or loses. First of all please stop all the "bump in the road" talk. A loss in the NFL is never just a bump in the road. Take responsibility and own the losses, while complementing the team when you win. That's leadership.

Dak will be responsible of leading this team so no bad refs/bad Kellen/bad o line nonsense if he loses please. At the same time he will have earned the biggest chunk of all the praise if he can lead us to wins against contenders.

Despite being a team sport the QB position just stands out from all the others. I expect him to find solutions. But I'd expect that from any QB.

I hope that Dak doesn’t come back against Philly; that is a tough first game after you’ve been inactive for awhile…and Dak wasn’t all that impressive against the Bucs. Moreover, I think Cooper’s quick reads and release will be more of an advantage vs Dak holding the ball struggling to read coverages.

Maybe Cooper has us blowing out the Rams, so Dak can come in and clean up, get in some playing time. Then be ready for the Eagles.

Yeah, I think Dak needs to target the Lions and Bears game to make his come back. Be 100% sure the hand is healed.

It’s hard to overlook the bad performance of Dak Prescott against Tampa Bay. The seventh-year quarterback finished 14 of 29 throwing for just 174 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. His QB rating of 47.2 was the lowest mark since the 2017 season when the Cowboys got smoked 37-9 in a crucial divisional loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. And it was his lowest completion percentage since his rookie season when the Cowboys lost 10-7 to the New York Giants. Suffice it to say, it wasn’t a very good game for Dak.

It could depend on how Rush plays these next two weeks. Can afford to give him more time if we're winning, but don't want to fall too far behind the Eagles if we're not.

Maybe he can sit in on some film with Rush and the coaches. Rush can tell Dak what he sees. Somebody has to help him. sheesh

Maybe Rush can tell Dak the secret to only averaging 20 points per game against weak competition. Dak needs to rethink that 31 points per game thing has been doing for the last few years. Be more like Rush. We like those nail biters Rush!!!

Does Rush have a bad game in him? He seems to be reducing the mistakes as the season goes on. How much does humility play into his performance and will Dak see the field again in 2022?

The secret is having an offense during the entire game instead of waiting to pad your stats against loose defenses.
Opposing teams can't score as much when the Cowboys defense isn't having to play one-half to two-thirds of the game by themselves.
It's not that hard to figure out.
