Dak sure is lucky he isn't being given the "Romo" treatment

All one has to do is look at how Philly’s defense automatically changed as soon as they saw Mediocre Dak Prescott walk off the sideline and Romo walk behind the huddle..

Romo didn’t even have Zeke that game either, a hole-run hitter Zeke who was averaging over 5 YPC on first down..

Defenses would be clueless at what to do…. Play man? Here goes Romo.. drop back into coverage, well let’s just have it off to Zeke behind that dominant OL..

Fair enough, it's tough trying to argue for Dak and also look reasonable when you have to say things like Romo throws the ball up for grabs in the playoffs despite Dak throwing interceptions in the playoffs a lot more often than Romo.

Not to mention, Romo beat more winning teams with less talent.

If Rush wins against the Commodes, Frilly Filly and the Rams, it will be another Romo situation. It’s why he’s panicking so bad making claims of “no swelling!!” When it’s actually swelt. He’s nervous about his job being taken and it’s only going to take 1 more win before Rush is legitimately considered by the coaching staff and FO.
I don' think Dak is nervous. He has a throwing hand injury. Once that is healed, he will return to his starting position and Rush will go back to being 2nd team qb. It ain't rocket science, it's all about money. Dak's getting paid to be #1 and he will be once the hand/thumb is healed. JJ isn't going to let his starting qb sit on the bench. I don't see any qb controversy if I'm in JJ's chair.

It was his only series in a meaningless game. No way could we bench Dak for the playoffs after he led us to 13 wins that season. It would’ve been the dumbest thing we could’ve ever done especially if Romo had a bad playoff game. The Cowboys would’ve been persecuted.
It would've been super dumb especially since Dak led us deep in the playoffs...oh wait....

thing is the controversy will only be among fans and media, jerry..... lol he wants dak win or lose, play bad, stink it up, and he will keep dak in there !
Dak’s our best QB until proven otherwise. Rush still has more work to do to even make this a real discussion.

And if Rush DOES keep it up, then Dak will need to prove that he’s still the #1 guy whenever he returns.

Injuries create opportunities, Dak knows that better than anyone.

YOU said it lol, many here think rush has already proven he is the
better qb.
I think dak used to be better than he is now , keep that in mind. also rush is better now than he was in years past.

But we shouldnt have to have a supposedly better qb forced back on the team , when it is not clear now just which one is better at this point in time.

Dak has struggled with the shell coverage thing since the denver game, and rush is dealing with that better.

It sounds weird , but rush makes the coaches better ! lol

All of the coaches, owners, and players are defending Dak. In 2016, ownership was being very coy about the situation. I understand 13-3 is an impressive stat, but telling Romo that he can't even compete for the starting job is absolutely ridiculous.

This organization has actually done a good job at given Dak what he needs to be successful: great wrs, great rb, a good to great offensive line throughout most of his tenure and now a top level defense.

I do not believe Cooper Rush is a better quarterback than Dak Prescott. However, I think this coaching staff seems to manage the game better with Cooper at the helm. My hope is when Dak comes back, he sees how lucky he is that he still has that job because his opportunities are thinning out.
dak should get the romo treatment ! turnabout is FAIRPLAY !!

It wasn’t his fault we can’t stop Aaron Rodgers however at least he didn’t beat him that season. It’s not like we were having any better luck with Romo against Rodgers or in the playoffs.

There were differences. As you mentioned, Dak had more than 3 games under his belt, so there was at least a bit of a track record.

The other thing is Romo was already 36, and would have been 37 going into the next season, so his time as an NFL QB was winding down anyway.

Plus that, Romo had gotten injured in 2 of the 4 games he played in 2015, then again in the first preseason game he played in 2016. That's 3 injuries in 5 games for a 36 year old player.

That said, Dak's injuries are starting to mount a bit, but not like Romo and not at the age Romo was, so I don't think the Cowboys have reached the point of wanting to throw in the towel

Romo wasn’t going to be ready to play until several games into the season. The last time they rushed him back from an injury he re broke his collarbone. He had a compression fracture in his back and was beat up. He was at the end of his career. Once we got late into the season it made no sense for him to come back because Dak was playing outstanding football and we were winning games. Romo would’ve been very rusty not having played most of the season. We ended up winning a franchise record 11 straight games. No team makes a change at QB when they’re on that kind of a roll.
Chances are he would have been injured again and possibly disabled. Not a good way to go into retirement. It was like Danny White's career. A lot of what ifs.

The last three times he hit the turf hard something broke.

Romo was healthy at the end of the seaon. He even played a series in philly leading the cowboys on a long td drive before returning to clip board duty. There is no debate that Romo was not treated fairly by the organization in regard to being allowed to compete for his job.

You can’t have a QB competing for their job during the season. We stayed with the hot hand and it was the right decision. Jimmy Johnson did the same thing in 1991 after Troy Aikman was ready to return from injury. Jimmy stayed with Steve Beuerlein into the playoffs who led the Cowboys to five straight wins. Bill Belichick stayed with Tom Brady when Drew Bledsoe was ready to return. You don’t bench a hot hand at QB!

I think Romo would have done well if he had regained QB1 status. Probably another best chance at post season glory after the Dez non-catch game and the fumbled field goal snap in the Seattle game. However, he might not have survived it.

Sure.. if Rush wins 11 straight games he will get to keep the job..

The Cowboys going on a long winning streak and Cooper Rush putting up some good numbers against the better teams the Cowboys win face, will be the only way this situation can be compared to the Dak-Romo situation in 2016. I mentioned before that 2 or 3 games would not have been enough for Dak to win the starting job, if Romo was able to come back in week 5 or 6.

They'll ride or die with Dak, and end up dying in the wild card round every year at best.

Well, with both Dak and Romo, we ended up going no further than the divisional round and failed to make it to the NFC Championship game. This including with the 2007 and 2014 teams, who are at the times considered to be one of if not the best rosters in the NFC and one the favorites to compete for the Super Bowl among the sports media and fanbase. Despite some wanting to act like the rosters the Cowboys had, was never viewed as good enough to make a deep playoff run with Romo as the QB.

Anyone who thinks it was the wrong decision is foolish! It would’ve been one of the dumbest things in the history of sports to bench a rookie QB for the playoffs who led your team to a franchise record tying 13 wins to go back to an aging QB who hadn’t played all season and was 2-4 in the playoffs. Had we lost to Green Bay in the playoffs with Romo the fan base would have been livid and the Cowboys would’ve been persecuted by everyone. We would be sitting here wondering what could’ve been had we stayed with Dak. It would’ve haunted the franchise forever.
Lol, sticking with Dak was actually one of the dumbest decisions in the history of sports.

  • Trying to win with a rookie which has never been done before and likely will never be done
  • Sticking with the player that had never been in a playoff situation even in college over a QB that had plenty of playoff experience
  • Sticking with the obviously inferior player (proven by being too scared to even have a competition for the job)
The Saints didn't stick with Bridgewater when they went undefeated when he was filling in, and any front office that wasn't completely inept would have done the same thing with the Cowboys.

I'll just leave my last statement as it's funny to see how people hate Romo to the point of idiocy.
