Can we be smart like Ravens if Lamb doesn't step up?

Greets to all,
I'd like to see less drama and 'nose wiping' and more concentration on his craft, personally.

i agree GR----but we are an emotional bunch at times.....fans=fanatics....so just being who we are....and yes we have tendancy to go negative when the first thing occurs.....we

are high-maintenance ...but we are Cowboy fans so we worth it

CD isnt woth 30 million a year, not even close. They should talk about an extension. But if he wants max money just transition tag him with a 1st round offer see if any team wants him.

Charron---dont get mad...but your profile pic....dang kind of a dog....but i am sure you have great personality and great heart...hahaha...just messin' w/ya

Yeah I mean I think he is now. He may have hit his ceiling. I’m not entirely sure what he does “great” at this point in his career. But let’s see by seasons end. That drop might propel him to legendary status because that catch he made for a TD…..he flashes his ceiling….
His biggest plus coming out was RAC, but alot of the was Big 12 pass defense. His total package is still probably good for a consistent 80 catches for 1,100- 1,200

Do I think Lamb is a legit #1 WR? No I don’t. I think that idea was being pushed by the Jones’ boys to justify dumping Amari. Lamb was performing at a high level due to presence of Amari Cooper and Gallup, so coverages were definitely not rolling his way. That was obvious during the Bucs game when he had a difficult time getting separation.

I thought that he was embarrassed by the drop…it hit him right in the hands in stride…on national TV. I don’t think competitive athletes take anything light-hearted no matter how it may appear.

With that being said, he made the two crucial catches in the game. He got blown up on the 4th down completion and made an OBJ-like catch for the go-ahead TD. Without those we lose.

Let’s see how he performs when Gallup gets back into the line-up.

I didn’t love the laughing either because that’s not how I’d react, but that’s him. Im sure he was laughing off the embarrassment.

I’d guess they question how Cooper makes decisions and what information he trusts to make those decisions came into question and may reveal a character flaw. (In their opinion and just a guess)
He also had a high salary. Maybe too high.

I do think he might have been laughing off the embarrassment. I noticed that he was saying that it was fault during that. Meanwhile, the Giants WR on his drop went straight to the sideline with no emotions or care at all. So there's that. However, I do think, if Lamb continues to perform how he has this season, then I think that trading him could be a good move. We should be able to get an extra first, which we can convert into a new WR..or, if Jerry would stop being cheap, we could also sign a FA WR. That might be too much to ask however.

His skill set is not WR1, he is talented enough to play there and mostly excels. He is without a peer as a slot receiver. We are just not using him to maximize his talents. IMO

Totally agree with u my friend. I'm as guilty of being emotional as anyone. In my comment I was referring to Lamb and his lack of concentration at some critical points in the game. I'll blame it on growing pains as he is just at the beginning of his second season and he has shown 'all world' talent on occasion. The 'nose wipe' has got to go though in my opinion.
Cheers

Yes, that's my boy Diego and thanks for the comp. Love him to death. My best pal. He's a 5 years old Dogo Argentino and is a 60 klg. bundle of love and terror depending on situation. I hope I'm as fortunate as you to have him for 15 years. Best wishes for you and your beautiful Morkie.

Yeah that made me nervous reading his scouting report because watching his clips he’s running through guys and going through contact…he’s not gonna do that in the NFL at his size.

He's flashed WR1 traits like that 1 handed grab in the back of the end zone, but also made some mental mistakes. I would agree it's been a dissapointing season for Ceedee so far, but hope that big end zone catch builds some confidence and he takes off from here.

Not a #1 but what can the team do at this point? They’ll have to live with several drops per game. Hopefully, none of them will be a winning TD for a playoff win…,

Lamb is the kind of receiver that comes out from college every year. Good receivers, great in open field, average hands, average speed. The elite receivers who can be #1 are more scarce and drafted in the top 10 usually. In other words, he definitely is not worth a top tier contract as a #1. As for that great TD catch, many complementary receivers make great catches too, but you don't give them top 5 money to keep them.

Even Dez didnt put it all together until the second half of his 3rd season.

I remember reading here, right on this site, that there were rumblings in the front office that Dez was a disaster up until that point

Bryant’s talent was immediately obvious though, he was just a different caliber athlete than Lamb and was a threat to score every time he touched the ball.

I think Lamb has good body control and smoothness to his game, and if he overcomes these recent drop issues I think he can be a solid WR1, but he’s not the game breaker Bryant was. It’s a little disappointing given the hype he had coming out of Oklahoma, I was definitely expecting a more dynamic athlete.

We’ve already seen this QB without standout WRs and it wasnt pretty. Baltimore’s situation is different.

Cooper was not the only player getting overpaid from that squad. If we are going to take action on players that underperformed on their contract, we need to do it across the board.

Dez always showed flashes before season 3 of being the best wide receiver in football. He destroyed the Super Bowl champion Giants, Lit up prime Rodgers Packers, and just scared defensive coordinators in general by walking on the field. I know they are just different types of receivers but CeeDee scares no one. Dak is not the quarterback that Romo is when it comes to taking chances either.
