Dak sure is lucky he isn't being given the "Romo" treatment

All of the coaches, owners, and players are defending Dak. In 2016, ownership was being very coy about the situation. I understand 13-3 is an impressive stat, but telling Romo that he can't even compete for the starting job is absolutely ridiculous.

This organization has actually done a good job at given Dak what he needs to be successful: great wrs, great rb, a good to great offensive line throughout most of his tenure and now a top level defense.

I do not believe Cooper Rush is a better quarterback than Dak Prescott. However, I think this coaching staff seems to manage the game better with Cooper at the helm. My hope is when Dak comes back, he sees how lucky he is that he still has that job because his opportunities are thinning out.
Romo was getting injured just by someone looking at him.

When a QB/team strings together ELEVEN STRAIGHT WINS - well, one might become reticent to mess with that kinda chemistry. I was a big fan of Tony Romo. But how can you peel off of that kind of success? It was a very tough call - but responsible adults made that decision. Ultimately, the Cowboys caved early to a visiting Packers team and came up just short in their rally efforts… THAT is the reason for the second guessing.

We’ll never know if Romo would have fared better - but, to that point in Romo’s career… he HADN’T. Plain and simple. It’s quite likely that the playoffs with Romo under center would have ended much like the PREVIOUS seasons with Romo under center.

I try not to relive the season that Dallas lost to SF on the infamous ‘The Catch’ play either. Painful. Move on.

The time to make the change back to Romo was after the second Giants game where Dak and the offense were absolutely abysmal. Dak had his worst game of the season and it ended our win streak. So the whole “go with the hot hand” strategy shouldve been over with. It wasnt like that was just an anomaly game either. It was his 3rd game in a row in which he threw for less than 200 yards.
Ummm So you were willing to ignore the 11 game win streak before that bad game.

You mean the beta Lamb WR that drops 60% of passes and the legendary Noah Brown?

That may be, but it's long since time to move on. Also, as far as that move goes, blame Jason Garrett. He kept trotting Dak out there when he was on his win streak.

And all JG got was Coach of the Year.

So it seems most people agreed with the coaching moves at the time.

Yeah, well that's why you evaluate the play of the player rather than the team stat.

Because you assess what are the actual causes of success for that record. That’s the point of football men who know what they’re doing. Questions like, was Dak actually a primary cause of that 11 game win streak such that if Tony was put back in, it would’ve never happened, or, if Tony is put back in, could the team be even better, are supposed to be asked by them and then answered correctly. It should be based on real football parameters that is inclusive of both evaluation of player ability and team success, not on “stupidstition” and immeasurable intangibles encapsulated in terms like “chemistry” and “riding a win streak”.

Jerry Jones Won't Speculate On Romo, But Expects Him To "Do More" This Week
Monday, November 07, 2016 1:51 PM CST
By David Helman DallasCowboys.com Staff Writer

FRISCO, Texas – Jerry Jones did everyone the favor of ruling Tony Romo out well before the Cowboys traveled to Cleveland last week. Don’t expect the same courtesy this time around.

Fresh off his team’s 35-10 beating of the Browns, the Cowboys’ owner/general manager held his customary interview session with reporters. But when questions turned toward the familiar subject of Romo’s availability, Jones was much more evasive than he was a week ago.

“Unlike last week, I wouldn’t speculate,” he said through a smile.

Some people here or outside the site may be correctly labeled as second guessers. However, I would disagree anyone who said Romo should have been reinstated as starter after he was medically cleared (especially Cowboyszone members who are on record saying so well before the team won 11 straight games) should be lumped in with the second guessers. One perspective was prompted by hindsight. The other was not.

Dez Bryant
Cole Beasley
Terrance Williams
Jason witten
rookie Zeke
And arguably the offensive line in football at that time (2016)

Amari Cooper
Cd lamb
Michael Gallup
cedric Wilson
Zeke/Pollard
Schultz (2018-2021)

are all pretty good weapons

even Amari is doing well now in Cleveland

to say that he hasn’t had had weapons is just a downright lie

Dude has had plenty of talent around him. You may not like lamb, but he did lead the team last year in yards and receptions. He’s good.
