Is anyone out there actually enjoying "House of the Dragon"? I mean really enjoying for what it is and not because it is a GoT spinoff with a GoT look and feel? We are six episodes in and I find it a colossal bore.

Is the storyline interesting? I don't think so. I care little about any of the characters, and I care less about who wins the political battles because they have not gotten me invested in it. The occasional mention of one of the houses that was prominent in GoT is not enough to make this show interesting or compelling.

In epsiode 6, we jumped ahead 10 years out of nowhere. Why? Is this an admission that nothing happened for 10 years, i.e. the story is boring? The episode was more than an hour long, but for reasons I cannot fathom. And after we move forward 10 years there are clearly some changes to the appearance of some characters (replaced by new actors), some new kids are involved and some characters appear to have passed or were just written out, but the storyline is the same. Why should I care more now 10 years forward in history than I did 10 years ago? This series has the feel of a dairy farm, where GoT viewers are being milked weekly by HBO.

The 2 time jumps and how they handled Damon’s wife. These things could’ve been done better. When he approached her you had no idea who she was. They had 5 episodes to at least give the audience an inkling of what she looked like. That poor actress might’ve had the quickest and poorest character development in tv history. I’m surprised she even had a line. We’ll see where they go from here with the older characters in place.

She-Hulk ) Pretty good episode, maybe the best one without Bruce.
Star Wars: Andor ) So far, as good as it looked in the trailers.
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ) Getting very, very good now. I've actually reversed my opinion of Galadriel. Her character is becoming much more 3 dimensional. The effects in this show might even be better than the movies were.

Lord of the Rings is beginning to intrigue me. I may have to give it a whirl. Would I benefit revisiting the movies first (as it's been awhile)?

What is Netflix’s obsession with serial killer biographies? I saw the first 30 minutes of the Jeffrey Dahmer series and pretty much decided it would bring nothing worthwhile to my life. I can’t believe they stretched that into ten episodes too. These must be easy money to produce and get good ratings for them. Seems like there is a new one every week. Trash content.

I've been watching Dahmer, and while it gets slow at times, it gives you a good idea of just how twisted he was.

I'm watching all three shows as well and I couldn't agree more. I've been enjoying She-Hulk, Andor is good so far, and I can't wait for episode seven of The Rings of Power. I also like Galadriel too.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)

Technically, it has been ten years or less.

Actually, we were talking about the Lord of the Rings :D

I was actually disappointed with the production quality of The Hobbit movies as well as the presentation :(

The Hobbit was the first fantasy book I ever read (I had to do a book report on it) and it seemed a lot more fascinating than the movie(s) made it out to be.

Peter Jackson was given a larger budget and still didn't want to do The Hobbit. He realized what it was, a money grab by the studio after the success of LOTR.

I have the extended versions of the series and one thing I have noticed as I watch The Hobbit followed by LOTR every fall/winter is that I am less critical and like The Hobbit more every time I see it because I am not comparing it. My major complaint is still the overuse of CGI and the cartoonish effect of Smaug and the head orcs.

Too much or too little CGI does not bother me. I was fine with that aspect in both sets of movies.

My negative opinion of The Hobbit had nothing to do with the CGI and everything to do with the way they presented the story. Honestly, it was boring to me and it failed to generate any emotional connection with the characters. That is coming from someone who has fond memories of The Hobbit book and story.

The LoTR movies were not my favorites, but they were enjoyable to watch and I understood why there were three of those. There should have only been one The Hobbit movie, not three.

It was the same way with the Harry Potter movies. Outside of the first one, the movies really did not do the books justice. If anyone likes the HP movies, they really should read the books. While you can say that for many books made into movies, the HP movies are one of the best examples of that.

On a side note, if you like audio books, get the "Stephen Fry" (UK) narrated version of the Harry Potter audio books. Stephen does an amazing job of narrating and acting out those books. Some of the characters he plays sound just like the ones from the movies too.

While not great, The Lord of the Rings movies did a much better job transitioning a great story to a theatre screen while The Hobbit movies seemed to be made to cash in on a well-known story IP and recent LoTR popularity.

I was going to mention that. For being made several years later, the effects in the Hobbit were somehow significantly worse than those from the prior film trilogy.

I hold a different view. I have the extended editions of both trilogies on blu-ray and while I often revisit the LOTR, I have little desire to go back to watch the Hobbit.

Personally, the only part I really disliked was the floating down the river scenes. The CGI was awful and overdone, making the action seem way over the top.

The last episode was better than the previous ones but I still think this show is terrible. It LOOKS beautiful. I even think it's cast pretty well. It captures nearly every look and feel from what I would expect. But the writing is just...monumentally terrible to me. I don't care a lick about a single character. Other than the last episode, every big moment feels unearned and un-inspiring. The execution of the 4 plots has just not been any good.

Note - I'm-a keep watching because I'm a sucker, but it is just so weak.

Very disappointed in House Of The Dragon. The pace and storytelling feels rushed like it's a Cliff Notes version of the series. I don't know if I like or care for any of the characters, development seems poor. Kinda sad for a followup for GoT.
