Quarter of the season in and I am still not sure if I know a lot more than before the season started but I did have some idea of how better or worse I thought players and units would be compared to last season.

The team is a surprising 3-1 with those 3 W's with a backup QB and he is definitely better than I thought he would be but not better than the QB1. However, I did not have the QB1 in the top 8 in the league and still do not.

In fairness though, the QB1 is expected to go out and win games the backup is doing well if he doesn't lose them.

The DL and secondary are better than I anticipated and the LB's about where I anticipated.

The OL and WR's are better and the RB's are about where I anticipated.

The coaching is better so taking into account the others that are better, the team is overall better than I anticipated. And winning 3 games with a backup is good coaching. Might be different coaching than with the QB1, and maybe there's a lesson to be learned there, but it is better coaching.

However, I do not feel the team has been really tested yet and that is more of a factor of the NFL, in general, and the NFC is off to a worse start than I anticipated.

So far, the biggest surprise is that PHL is considered to be the best NFC team and while I did think they would be the best in the East, I did not see this coming with Hurt's improvement being so dramatic.

I did feel PHL played better as a team than DAL did last year but that gap has been closed and maybe the QB1 being out has caused that to happen for DAL?

So, what looks better or worse to you and can the better get even better and the worse be countered for this team to get deep into the playoffs?

Only one of the other NFC teams looks any better than DAL does right now and they will play twice so that will get settled.

Only one NFC team? No, I think not. We fit in the slightly above average section of the NFC, mostly due to the defensive firepower we are experiencing. That horrid offense brings it down quite a few pegs.

NFC teams I will say are definitively better than us:
Eagles
Rams
Packers
TB (they beat us pretty handily)

NFC Teams I’ll say we are in the same league as:
49ers
Giants
Vikes
Cardinals
(Maybe Seahawks)

hard to say overall...but the defense is certainly better than i thought, the OL has been better and I am shocked at how good Maher has been.

I was surpirsed how bad Dak was against TB but lets hope that was just rust and TB's defense.....

I guess if i had to say, i would say the end result is about what i thought we would be pre TB, but much better than what i thought we would be post TB.

I expected to be 2-2 at this point before the season.

After seeing the Bengals offensive line in week one, I decided that wasn't the auto loss I thought it was in August. Turns out the Cowboys destroyed that line and won.

I always expected to beat the Giants and Commanders.

I figured it was our QB1 holding us back since 2016. This recent run just reiterated that a lot of us were right. One of these teams since 2016 should have at least made the NFC Championship game if not the Super Bowl. Let's see if Dak can at raise his level of play in the playoffs like some other mediocre QB's, Flacco and Eli at win it all. I have my doubts but you never know.

I mean much better, but the offense is exactly lighting the world on fire. Not sure if Dak helps or hurts the cause there, so still confused about what this team is

About where I thought we would be record wise. 3-1 or 2-2 at worst.

Defense what I expected, but was hoping a bigger improvement against the run, if one can call it improved. Pass rush better. Brown seems to regress a little in coverage, so it seems, Safety play much better. Diggs better in coverage, though I think it was over blown last year.

Offense is less than I expected, then again Tyron is out, and they are still trying to find their way in run blocking. Pass protection better since the TB game.
WR are about what I expected, better than many thought, but still room to improve.
Now is it also less because Dak is out, and that is not taking anything away from Cooper, he has been great. That was unexpected to a degree. But do we really know what Dak can do. Was it just an odd start for him, as well the OL. we seen how he started last year.
The running game has been disappointing, but how much is that on Moore as well.
TE a pleasant surprise with the 2 rookies.

ST”s, hard to say they have not been horrible, and Maher better than expected. Turpin has 1 or 2 good returns. Seems he fair catches more than returns. So are the ST’s any good at blocking to allow him a chance on PR.

Coaching, MM seems to be doing well as to overall team and clock manage to, Quinn has been fantastic.
Moore sucks.

Rowdy still sucks.

I was expecting a 2-2 record before Dak’s injury. And after week one? I was admittedly resigning myself to another list season, like that 4-12 season when Romo got hurt.

At this point, I’m ecstatic and feel like we’re playing with house money! I’m back to feeling optimistic about this team’s chances this year.

With a very good defense, if the offense can improve themselves, this team might make sone noise this year. But the run defense MUST be improved.

While I’d agree with most of this I’m not sure I’d argue that Egirls are only team better than us in NFC. We already loss to Tampa decisively so there’s one for sure. And I’d take the Packers over us and probably the Rams.

Vikings could be another. We’ll get a matchup with them as well. And I’d still leave the possibility of AZ and or SF being better.I wouldn’t use records as core measurements.

Im also not sold Egirls are best team in NFC .

The team has overall played better than I expected, which I thought would be at a 2-2 start. Rush has been really solid and Tyler Smith has been a very pleasant surprise at LT so far. Several other young players like rookie TEs Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot have had a nice start.

The offense is a step back from what it was early last year but the defense is certainly better. Parsons appears to be a generational talent. If he stays healthy, he has a gold jacket in his future. The pass rush has been a weapon. But this D still needs to be able to stop the run or they will continue to struggle against smash mouth teams that can get physical and impose their will.

Coach as you said at the beginning of your OP, it’s still very early. And all NFL teams evolve. They either get better or get worse as the long season exposes the pretenders and separates them from the contenders. This team’s got enough talent to make the playoffs but I’m not convinced yet that they have the culture that demands enough of its talent. We must remember who sits in the cat bird seat of the owner’s box.

The Giants are not in the same category as the 49ers, Cards, and Vikings - and Dallas. The Cowboys beat the Giants without several starters including their QB.

However, I think the Giants will get better as the season progresses, as long as Barkley does not get hurt again.

Headed into the season I think a 3-1 start is what I was thinking. After Dak went down it felt like we would be 1-3 or 0-4, so considering the cards we ended up getting delt the outcome has been better.

Thanks to the D for carrying the team and Cooper Rush doing just enough to win.

Since 2016?.. yes. I wanted Romo to finish off the 2016 season.... We all know Romo was the better QB in 2016.. We all know a rookie QB had never led a team to a Super Bowl victory. After that season all I've heard is our OLine sucks, Our Coodinators suck, Our WR's Suck, Our Head Coach sucks, Our Defense sucks, Our Owner Sucks, Our kicker Sucks, everything excuse in the world on why Dak hasn't won squat.

Romo never led a team to a superbowl victory either. That's a weird barometer
