they do? how....like I said, average to good, not wow
How? You haven't noticed that Wilson has been the leading tackler and is being talked about as one of the top safeties in the league? You didn't notice that Bland was solid in his first game on defense and that he got a pick? You haven't noticed Brown over the last 2 seasons? You haven't noticed that Mukuamo and Bohanan have been solid? What are you doing during the games?

Jalen Tolbert not even active. If Kelvin Joseph is on bust watch, when does Tolbert go there?
You might want to give both of them a little time. See Noah Brown, a guy they developed who now has more yards than Amari Cooper.

Joseph practices at outside CB. They're not going to bench Brown or Diggs to get Joseph on the field even if he is really good in practice.

Quinn likes to have Nickel CBs that focus on playing Nickel (covering the slot WR).

Back in the day, the Cowboys initially kept Scandrick at Nickel despite him potentially being better than Mike Jenkins on the outside.
- Wade Phillips explained that they had thrown too much at Scandrick when they tried having him practice both positions.

Joseph has more ST snaps than ST leader CJ Goodwin...
Joseph has a ton of raw talent. And yes he is a stud on STs. But let’s be honest, we didn’t draft him in the second round to be the best gunner we have.

From what I’ve read from beat writers David Moore and Calvin Watkins, the knock on Joseph is his lack of commitment to learn the position mentally. He may be the most physically gifted corner we have. But the team doesn’t trust him enough with meaningful snaps.

That could change of course. But KJ has to be considered at the very least a disappointment so far. Hope that changes. But obviously he still has a lot of improvement to exhibit before Dan Quinn has the faith to throw him in there for meaningful snaps.

There’s plenty of time for KJ to show us something. But if I’m taking the fan glasses off and being objective here, he’s on the clock as a bust. Hopefully that changes.

Players don't end up with the most snaps on Special Teams without being focused and coachable...

ST is more about being coachable than about pure physical ability.

Would you agree that we didn’t draft KJ to be a ST star?

1) Shultz got too many snaps. Any offensive coach watching that film, and seeing how uninspired he's playing should put him on notice or flat out bench him. However, he's making $10M so he'll continue to play and compromise the offense. Play the rookies more.

2) McGovern isn't a starter over Peters imo. Too many snaps for Conner when you have HOFFER on the sideline. Remember CM wasn't this great LG before he got hurt...that was Tyler Smith spot.

3) KJ is doing very well as a gunner. Once a player of his draft status accepts a STs role, and excels at his job then he's ready to contribute on the defense, in most cases. I thought KJ filled in well vs the Gnats when Diggs was hurt for a few plays. He's not a bust, he's developing while being stuck behind 2 good veteran CBs imho.

Here are yesterday’s snap counts vs the Washington whatevers.
Some things that stand out to me:
  • The Cowboys only had 61 snaps to Wash’s 74. The Cowboys were obviously more efficient.
  • Good to see Gallup back. He had 39 snaps and caught a TD.
  • Micah Parsons had 63 of the defense’s 74 snaps. He seemed gassed at times.
  • Sam Williams had 17 snaps. He’s getting more each week.
  • Kelvin Joseph once again with zero snaps on D. Officially on bust watch.
  • Zeke had 39 snaps to Pollard’s 24.
What else stood out?

Joseph on Bust watch or is a suspension coming? I think a suspension is coming, no need to screw with the DEF chemistry if he will miss 3-6 games.

Peters is still playing himself into shape. I'm hoping to get some continuity at the LG position, whoever plays there. Rotating guards won't help the run game.

again, you had a long list....I said they are average to above average....perhaps some good. let the season play out before we start to cover them with the annointing oil.
and solid, really......OK then....solid it is.

again to me solid is average. doesn't mean bad...its better than Bad.

sorry I am an as easily impressed as you are. doesn't mean I don't like them. I just don't fawn over them....but go ahead with your bad self...fawn away

He was drafted to replace CB Brown when Brown's contract is up which happens after this season.

Joseph gave up a total of minus 2 yards receiving in his 1st NFL start. What more can he do?
Pretty simple- Earn some snaps on defense. So far, it’s pretty obvious he hasn’t.

Disappointed in Joseph but I wi say he has turned into a stud in on ST. Hopefully he’ll come around as a corner and justify the pick.
I'm ok with letting him earn his due there and compete again for the CB2 job next season... we can't just let him go now it doesn't make sense esp b/c he is starting to show up on special teams...hopefully this leads to his confidence being boosted as he just got the game ball on ST a week ago and made a huge tackle with Goodwin last night.

What stood out most to me is Schultz.

I really liked the way the other TEs played in his absents.

Then he comes back and is completely not existent while getting 90% of the snaps.
Rush is hitting everybody else, so doesn't need that "safety" valve just yet.

I'm a big supporter of Schultz, but it's odd to see him catch not a single ball in 90% of snaps. Either Schultz has no chemistry with him, or Dak just elevates the play of players like Schultz.

I am curious How much He will command on the open Market & How much compensation will the Cowboys be rewarded . . . Maybe $14 Million a year and maybe a 4th Rd pick in compensation

But I am with you Kelvin is gonna be fine and I am always a big Fan of someone sitting and learning . . . Brown playing so well is the reason He is sitting which is a good thing
