I voted Dak but it depends on what Dak we get back. If it's the one that keeps seeing deer in the headlights when he plays good teams my vote would change. He needs to get back to what he used to be.

Why do we do this?

I can remember the whole "Steve Walsh should start over Troy Aikman" cries. Then, it was the "Steve Beurlien should start over Troy Aikman
cries.

We always seem to love the backup QB.
I think it was Dandy Don who said, “the backup quarterback is always the fan’s most popular player.”

How is this not 90-10? Dak is not and never will be elite and may never be more than slightly above average, but for people to pick Cooper Rush over him seems more like an anti-Dak agenda pick. I'm all for replacing Dak when his contract allows for it IF (stressing if) we find a good enough guy, but certainly not with Cooper Rush. Lastly, they are the same age so it's not like Cooper Rush is some young kid who will improve greatly over the next few years. He is smart, he makes the right calls and right decisions and that is very important, but he is just too limited to be a long term starting QB. Absolutely love how he has come in and won us some games and went from hoping for a better backup to being happy with giving him a nice raise to stay, but as a backup only.
This is the right answer

This poll is to gauge the current sentiment of Cowboys fans on CowboysZone of who should be the starting quarterback for the next game.

Obviously, the question in this poll is for when Dak Prescott is healthy enough again to start, so do not vote based on his active status.

Once Dak Prescott is healthy, who do you want to be the starting quarterback?

LOL......I think that tells it all when measuring the intelligence of the Cowboys fan base. About 40% have no clue about football or QB play.

I’m thrilled that we have Cooper Rush on the team. But he cannot make all the throws that Prescott Cana. It’s just that simple.

I appreciate Dak’s mobility - he has that over Cooper Rush in spades. I believe he also has the stronger arm by quite a bit. Where Rush closes the gap is his decision- making, and accuracy. Rush has really surprised me with his ability to hit the receiver without causing his target to break stride. AND … I’ve only seen Rush throw a single ‘backfoot ball’ during this three-game streak of success.

I guess the tie-breaker for me is the money. Is Dak Prescott $39M better than Cooper Rush?

Prescott’s last two meaningful games suggest he is not - NOT EVEN CLOSE.

I forget who said it, but someone said something to the effect of:

"The best position of all of sports is the Backup QB. They usually get paid well, don't take a ton of hits, and are typically not hated by the fans."

It seems to be mostly true.

This is great, I can add to my ignore list. They are voting with the eagles troll, pretty obvious why he would vote for Rush.

This will be a better question reality after the rams game.
One thing about rush, he has been consistent, and that is something dak hasnt been since 2016.

I chose rush, because he is the better qb so far in 2022.

Dak could only get 3 points up in the first game and lost,
Rush is 3-0 and doesnt put up a lot of points, but is consistent in putting up around 20-23 points.
He is consistent in all areas.
Cooperrush came in and was just as horrific against the bucs.

Depends in part on which Dak we get when he comes back. Sure Dak has a lot of experience and in that sense Dak seems like the logical choice, but when I watch Coop regularly hit his receivers in stride including receivers on a crossing pattern where Dak so frequently throws behind the receiver, It makes me think twice. I think Coop is more accurate than Dak, and for a lot less money. Truthfully I don't think Dak will ever live up to that monster contract. I used to fully support Dak and to a degree I still do, but watching Coop's accuracy compared to Dak's caused me to vote for Cooper Rush.
That could change depending on which Dak comes back. Rush is not elite, but then neither is Dak.
