Can this team contend when Dak gets back?

Of course we can

It all depends on which Dak we get ..... The last 7 non NFC east games Dak ...... Or the first 6 games plus all the NFC East games Dak.

Dak needs to take the next step ....... If he does we can be a really good team .....
If not we need to look toward the future.

3-0 with Rush, granted against weak competition. I still think the run D is suspect. Oline has improved, but one injury away from disarray like we saw today. Moore is up and down.

Can we win the NFC East?

Thoughts?

call the same plays for Dak as well. Lean on our Run game

If Kellen keeps the same simpler offensive game plan, absolutely. IMO, he gets too cute when Dak is in and asks him to do too much.

Or maybe Dak just plays stupid and can't read defenses...that's another opinion. Guess $40m doesn't get you much these days. Rush gives more bang for the buck.

Honestly, sure. Dak can get us in a position to contend.

But my overwhelming concern with Dak is that he becomes a deer-in-headlights when we face legit competition. Slow to read, slow to process, and just generally mediocre.

It's happened over and over in his career (except for the playoff game against the Packers in his rookie year, ironically).

I know you guys want to believe in him and are hesitant to speak lowly of him, and that's admirable; but at some point, you have to take reality into consideration.

Dak is good against bad teams. Dominant, even. But as soon as the stage gets big and the defenses get good, he cannot perform.

That is why I want to move on from him. I enjoy a blowout win vs the Giants or Panthers as much as anyone, but I'd like to have a chance at watching the Cowboys in the Super Bowl again before I croak (and I'm only 35).

Another false claim by a bitter troll. Dak's first 3 playoff games he played well. Beat Wilson even in one of those games.

Just last year the Cowboys beat The Chargers, Eagles twice, and went into New England when he passed for over 400 yards. First to do so on a Beli D in something like 10 years. Clutch TD pass in overtime to Lamb. I could go on and on.

Of course they can and will contend. They have a very deep roster.

These next two games will tell us more about the defense. Still giving up over 5 ypc. The offense hasn't faced much adversity yet. If the defense keeps this up they won't. I doubt anyone would've believed this team would even win a game rushing for 62 yards with Cooper Rush at QB... much less by 15.

It's a bend don't break defense. They give up yards when they're on the other side of the 50.

That’s the right question. If the Dak that played against Tampa comes back, this team will be going nowhere. But, if the team that played Tampa shows up, they’re not going anywhere regardless of Dak.

Personally, I think Dak will come back strong, but there are no guarantees.
I definitely hope he does, but I'm not at all confident of it.

If we don't have success, all the sudden people will say the Offensive line sucks again and say it was better when Rush played.

It all depends if Dak can throw the ball and if Dak will run the ball.

If he continues to hesitate and be inconsistent we will struggle.

He absolutely has to be able to make some plays with his legs I don't care if he makes 40 million he is not Peyton Manning and needs to run once in awhile .

Hoping the thumb does not affect his throwing accuracy. Being able to grip the ball properly is no small thing in a quarterback's world.

If they rush him back too soon and that thumb is not healed properly it could open up Pandora's box and destroy his confidence.

You mean the guy that lead the #1 scoring and yardage offense in the NFL and broke the Cowboys single season passing TD record?

Ill take that guy all day long.
You mean the same guy who’s the garbage time king, but when it really matters vs. good teams, lays an egg showing all his inadequacies.

He’s essentially been where he was in preseason a year ago. I hope he comes back and is like he was early last year, but I suspect he’ll struggle a little and take a couple of games to find the groove.

I still think we can win the NFCE. Jaguars hung in with the Eagles today. They self destructed with turnovers when in scoring position, or that gave Eagles great short field positions.
I think they got some stuff on film that can be used to game plan the Eagles better.

Our OL is improving but I think they can still be better in run blocking.
Run defense is still very suspect. They need to get that cleaned up.

Yes, Rush is 3-0, but today he did not look as sharp as the other games. Not that he was showing anything elite those games.

As long as we get the defense and pass rush going strong, they can contend.
Hard to imagine Trevor Lawrence losing 4 fumbles in that game. That’s insane!

It would destroy our confidence as well. LOL
But I agree with all your points, completely.

Well those that understand football know Dak is one of the best QB's in the NFL. So there is no issue there. Leg appears to be healthy so I would expect more use of his legs this year.

I would be concerned about the thumb and coming back too early.

I believe so, the Rams and Packers don’t look good, the Bucs look like they may be snakebit with injuries this year and the Eagles offense involved too much smoke and mirrors to sustain this pace.
