Why would he want to buy a site he claims is full of bots? Doesn't make sense.

I doubt he even cares. I would bet money he was told to buy it, not buy it, keep it in the media. The majority shareholders in twitter are the same majority shareholders in all of musks companies and ventures. You do not get the type of loans and money to buy any of that stuff, unless you play the game. Non bot twitter use might have been dropping, the need to use twitter as a communication or news outlet due to not having an adequate replacement (elections are soon), or stock prices dropping, and we get this back and forth.

I think he asked for, and was declined, a pushback date on the court hearing. I bet this will go just like last time and ultimately the court date will be pushed back on account of Musk "negotiating in good faith".

I don't think he really wants it.

It will be funny if Musk has a new strategy of buying Twitter, finding the information he wanted on bots afterwards, and then legally going after the (then) former board members and other involved people who said otherwise. Of course he may find out the information was accurate all along.

Either way, I will not be surprised if something else happens before the deal is completed, if it ever is completed that is.

Facebook has been a lot more profitable than twitter (probably due to incompetence) so there is the belief that it can be reformed and more revenue is there to be made. But he's also been outspoken about the unfair censorship that's been on there the last few years.

Dumb people saying stupid things find it unfair.

But under what premise? He takes a platform who's valuation is - by his own statements - artificially inflated by non-existent users. He presumably removes those bot accounts, and yet somehow he comes up with millions of real active accounts to generate revenue beyond what it is currently doing?

Everyone who is going to use Twitter is likely already using Twitter. If its valuation is flawed based on fake accounts and bots, how does offering $12/share over their inflated valuation as of this morning leave him a lot of wiggle room to generate revenue?

I dunno, it just doesn't make sense to me but then again, I don't have $44B to drop on a spam site. He's already pissed on the product for being false, and the assumption is he can somehow deliver more additional real users than bots to increase its value? How is that even possible?

Personally, I'd like to see that platform fizzle out, with or without Elon. I think Twitter is mostly just a septic tank. It has some cool content. I like the genuine content regarding sports, but many of the users in that community are abhorrible. Ownership won't change that one bit, especially if the new owner dials back on the ToS to make "censorship" less prominent. I don't think it will become anything more than it already is, and he's proposing to buy it for more than it is already worth.

Personally, I still don't think he wants it and I don't really want him to want it. Not because I care about Twitter (because I don't) but because I would rather he stay focused on the other projects. Improve Tesla to make it more viable to people with longer daily commutes and lesser availability to charging stations, keep working on SpaceX and Starlink. Hell, spend some time on improving the solar roof tiles and making them more available.

Maybe, but the other businesses can still grow. They are tangible. That’s why they have value. How do you improve on a platform like Twitter? What new features can there be to keep people interested?

The only revenue from Twitter is user base and ads, and you can’t just spam ads indefinitely because people will leave. Him taking Twitter is as dumb as Zuck pushing meta. Nobody is asking for a better experience through innovation. Most just want it to be how they remembered it when they joined.

He was just trying to get a better price. He’s trying to make Twitter like WeChat in china, which is like an all in one messaging and payment app.
