To clarify- I’m not pinned down to a single point of view about who starts for us at QB. The MOST important thing to me is winning. That’s where my loyalty lies. Not any single player or coach.

I’m neither pro-this guy or anti-that guy. I just want to win, which is why I hate getting into arguments about Dak vs Cooper Rush. The “either/or” arguments to me are too partisan and too simplistic. Football is a team game that obviously requires excellent play at QB to win a championship. But that’s not all it requires.

As a fan of the Cowboys for 58 years of my life, one thing that I’ve observed that never seems to change. Whoever the starting QB is receives either way too much credit and/or way too much blame. When Dak signed his big payday, IMO he was doomed to be the primary target of frustration by the fan base. That’s the way it’s been forever regardless of the QB.

Last point on this- I think most fan bases give a QB about 5 years to show some playoff accomplishment. Dak is in his 7th season and he has one playoff win as a QB. Is that all his fault? Certainly not. But his paycheck makes him an all or nothing target- fair or not. I think Dak is good enough to lead a team to a SB. But he is NOT capable of being a Mahomes or Brady to do it mostly himself. He needs a defense and a decent OL. He may have that this year.

It’s time for this team to win something besides the NFC east. Maybe Dak isn’t “the guy”. But the last 27 years of frustration is not all on Dak Prescott. We all know where that responsibility lies.

For sure but unless there is some magic out on his contract we seriously have 1 hope for the next several seasons and thats Dak getting back to the level he played the start of last season..Again nothing against Rush but he is not the answer at QB unless something huge changes in what he can do throwing the ball. Paying a QB to sit for 40 mill a year is not the answer, again unless someone has a magic out on this contract.

I hear, we need to see more games from Rush to determine his fate .7 years and Dak is falling apart and regressing but we need to wait on him to "get it". Spook, just raised and eyebrow.

Dak should start when he is 100% healthy, if he has a bad game and then stays bad, we are in the same position if he comes back and beats a couple bad teams and then loses to a good team. This defense is good the Oline looks way better than we expected..Now if Philly just beats us because they are better we will just have to live with all the ridiculous posts as we know it would not have mattered who was QB.

Personally I wouldn’t start Dak until we lose a game with Rush. If we bench Rush when he’s undefeated and Dak returns to lay another egg the fan base will persecute him. Even if he were to play pretty well, if we lose he’ll be blamed for the loss. Jimmy Johnson stayed with the hot hand even into the playoffs with Steve Beuerlein, despite Troy Aikman being healthy.

The fanbase that will persecute him does it no matter what in my opinion, not saying thats a bad opinion just think we should play the better QB no matter the opposition.

Dak is clearly the better QB but he is coming off the worst game of his career and he hasn’t practiced since the injury. The last time he returned from an injury he was terrible! If he returns against Philly and looks terrible the fan base is going to jump all over him and everyone’s going to think he either isn’t any good or he’s still not 100%. I firmly believe the Cowboys will stay with Cooper Rush if we beat the Rams even if they believe Dak is 100% for Philly. I just can’t see him returning to action after several weeks off against a real good team and playing a good game.

I’ll start with a Cooper Rush. If he plays and wins this game. A little less than 50% of the fans will want him to continue playing the rest of the season. If he loses, 50% of the fans will say we told you so it’s been the defense.

Dak Prescott. If he starts and wins. 50% of the fans will say it’s because of the defense. If he loses now is the big dilemma. I believe more than 50% of the fans will say well maybe we should’ve kept Cooper Rush.

personally, I think Prescott is the better of the two quarterbacks overall. But I just want to win I don’t really care who is behind center. It makes no difference if we win by one point or 21 points. It’s about the game plan and the team. Go cowboys beat the Rams Sunday
I too want to win but I don’t think Rush can take us to the promise land. Dak has more skills but reading defense is now the looming question. No matter what Rush has made himself some real money

Unless the QB is Brady or Mahomes, no QB alone can take any team to a championship. It takes a team to win a championship. Between Romo and Dak, we’ve had enough QB talent to win a lot more playoff games than we have.

Again its really not that hard to understand...hey year 26 we are building a defense though..maybe the shift is comming.

It’s not a dilemma at all. The players and coaches have all said publicly how much they appreciate having Rush as their backup QB. He has done an excellent job. But he’s not seen as the starter by his teammates and coaches.

And as good as Cooper Rush has played, it’s not like he’s lighting it up. Without our outstanding defense, we’re probably 0-4. I’m not degrading Rush, let’s keep him in perspective. It’s not like he’s been Mahomes.
If you’ve been paying attention, to the Fanbase , It is a dilemma. But you’re right it shouldn’t be. That’s my point

I hear ya Whirly. I doubt Dak will play. That said, the Rams lost against the Niners Monday night meaning it's going to be tough defeating them coming off a loss & playing them at home. Should Dallas pull off this win with Rush at center, Dak just may lose his starting roll. Why? Because not only will Rush have won 4 straight, but he'll have defeated both Superbowl teams from 2021.
Then leave!
I don’t know why people look further into what’s written than what’s written. Intelligent people understood what I said. There was no agenda. Just facts of what I’ve been reading here for the past three weeks.

There is no debate

I have my issues with Dak, but its not even close. He is the starter....next week
The Fan base is split in half. That was the survey. But I do agree.

lol....dilemma

this isnt a Montana/Young debate. You have a backup qb that did an ok job subbing for an above average qb. I wanted Rush to play better and make a challenge but he was average.
When Dak is ready he is still the starter.

We just did a survey. On this form. 50% I want Prescott 50% want Rush. Trust me there’s a dilemma. But I agree they shouldn’t be

I read these posts and feel like we are heading into this game 0 and 4. This team has overcome huge obstacles and are 3 and 1. I feel like whether it is Dak or Rush, we have a great chance to win the game on Sunday! Carpe Diem

Jerry wont place a 100 million cap hit on the bench. If Dak has 3-4 bad game stretch it'll get interesting but not yet. Rush's performance didnt win the job
