Exactly what I would like to know… These deep dive stairs are really funny to me. Paralysis by analysis.
I dont get it, technically you would think Zeke gets the tough in between 1 to 3 yard carries when the box is loaded

tony P avgs 6.0 EE avgs 4.0 , which says pollard is better and is breaking more runs for long gains.
Dont need a chart like that to see that.

Nor to see when Zeke is healthy, we use him more on third-and-short or goal-line plays, where the defense is absolutely playing the run. Both players have roles, not sure why it's necessary to diminish what either does.

Pollard should get more carries than Elliott, but if we want him to break more runs for long gains, Elliott's got to take the pounding. Pollard was so tired at the end of the game against Chicago that he couldn't go anymore, and would have got caught on his long run if the blocker has not slowed up the defender who was chasing Pollard.

This whole argument is silly.

We have two very good rbs with different skill sets....use them the right way and this team is better and more explosive.

Use the pony package some too...

"Yards over expected created using positioning of ballcarrier and offensive and defensive players at the time of the handoff"

This is what happens when we let nerds into the sport

Everybody is fighting over Zeke and Polard. Meanwhile I’m over here ready to replace Zeke as the 2nd option based on one spin move by Davis:thumbup:

I'm assuming defenses play a bit softer to protect the pass when Zeke is in because they don't fear him breaking a long one.

Defenses must respect the run more when Pollard is in.
Or defenses back off when Zeke is in because there is no need in blitzing. They stack the line when Pollards in so they can blitz.
:muttley:

Guess that's why we see one blitz per game when Zeke's in and four blitzes a game when Pollards in.

Damn I love the way I can just make stuff up and have it sound half-arse legit.
:lmao:

This is a pretty interesting graph. I would say for the most part it aligns with what the eye test would tell you as well.

I am still all for having Elliot and Pollard splitting carries since they both have useful skillsets, but I would not be opposed to pollard starting to handle the larger end of a 60-40 split. He really is a very dynamic back.

Why can’t we just use both? They’re both good football players and bring different strengths to the game.

We can and should use both.

The argument is that Pollard is underutilized and Zeke is overutilized.

Pollard should get a majority of the touches.

I've been saying this since Pollard's rookie year. The Jones boys should have never given Zeke that big contract. I kinda wish they would have traded him for draft picks and just like Pollard do his thing.

I mean honestly that type of analysis is just useless. First you don't know the design of the run. Is it power left, is it a dive? Also what's the down and distance? Running a draw on 3rd and 1 and running a draw on 1st and 10 will get two different approaches by the RB. What about the defense? What kind of defense are they running? What are the players responsibilities? Did they regonize the play. There is so much that goes into a single play its completely useless to try and use nonsense like player positioning to determine "expected yards". That whole analysis is just someone trying to justify a job. Because none of them have the data you would need to make anywhere near accurate assumptions about how tough a play call would be to execute

Instead of the teams actually playing games. Let's just have them do Madden simulations instead.

We honestly have the dumbest fan base.
I think this has more to do with the fact that there are a number of fans who already know this and are tired of seeing/hearing about it. There is nothing we can do about it. It's the same with the multiple debates we have about whoever our current QB is.

It's nice that there are "nextgen" stats to prove what we already see on TV. I am not being smart alecky about that statement either. My only question about the Pollard debate is how good was his blocking last week? I admit I didn't pay attention to it much but were the bear D that much of a threat to Dak? I also caught the back end of The Fan and they were mentioning something about Pollard saying he only wants so many touches a game? I don't know if that was actually said by him or just speculation by The Fan. Did somebody here hear all of that?

I saw runs from pollard that zeke cannot do. There are also runs a healthy zeke does that are out of Tony’s wheelhouse

I’m all for a 60/ 40 split and it isn’t necessary to determine who gets the 60 pregame let the flow of the game determine it

I’d like to see a rested zeke come out and punish Green Bay

keep defenses guessing

thanks for posting @J12B

The Zeke is better people are honestly as dumb as flat Earthers at this point. Just oblivious to reality.
The Pollard fanboys are fun to watch. Thank you for the humor.

Computer Cowboys comes up with some weird stuff but I think it is all garbage.

The position of players when the ball is handed off? LOL. Which players? Micah Parsons laughs at this stat!

This doesn't mean I don't like Tony Pollard. He is an excellent RB. But I can tell that simply by his yards per carry stat.
