For a 27 year old RB/7 year veteran, Zeke still runs tough

One can agree/disagree on Zeke's contract being too expensive or how he doesn't have the speed he used to when he was younger, but we truly need to appreciate how after 7 years, Zeke still runs tough and has lots more to give. He still has that quick burst, some juice and strength in his legs. Watch some of the tough runs 27 year old Ezekiel Elliott has produced for the Cowboys so far this 2022 season.

I’d rather have a guy that “doesn’t run tough” but can average 4.5 yards per carry. I want production.
We all do. We saw it from Tony Pollard last week. We also saw how he ran out of gas after 14 carries. Too bad there aren't other Derrick Henry's available each draft. We would be golden. For now, the duo of Zeke and Pollard is good enough.

The first thing that leaps to mind as I watch this is how many of these runs are from shotgun.. which immediately leads me to hate it.

Agreed, Ronnie. Having a FB or TE to lead block against those opposing run D formations would open up some huge holes for Zeke to run through, instead of having to beat his old body up for a few tough yards every time.

Yeah in most of the highlights he is having the beat a tackler in the backfield. And that tackler is typically a d-lineman.. Dude gives up his body for this team time and again and yet and still some of these so called fans hate him.. It boggles the mind.

US, and the entire defense, knows that’s coming when it does.

Its mind bogglingly ridiculous.

Also, after a 1st and 10 incomplete, when was the last time we didn’t run on the next play?

Funny, Zeke is averaging exactly that. I'd rather have a guy that will continue to punish the defense all game long, versus one that can break a long run every now and then.
I know Pollard is exciting to you but he cannot sustain that if he was the number 1 guy, that's why Zeke is the more important guy because he sets it up for Pollard, the offenses problem, Zeke's and Pollard's problem is the OC!!! he doesn't know how to call a game the reason why is he's ESPN highlight OC, he wants to pass, pass, pass, trick play, trick play, pass, thick play

It’s a big play league.

Zeke crashing into guys is the opposite of what you want. You want big plays.

Derrick Henry runs way harder after the same 7 years. The difference being is Zeke got a boatload of carries in his first few years and Henry did not.

I don't agree with you that Henry runs way harder, I never heard any defensive players saying that, but I do agree that Zeke got way more carries than Henry n the first 7 yrs

Here's what I want just what we have but giving Zeke the minimum of at least 20 carries a game and Pollard 12 to 15 touches passes or carries, I disagree with your version of it's a big play league. yes big plays happen a lot in the regular season but in the playoffs it;s a get down rubber meeting the road league that makes big plays happen

But that doesn't mean he runs harder. B ecause someone outweighs another doesn't mean they run harder they just outweigh them
If they both run close to the same level of “hardness “I think the the 22 pound heavier guy is gonna look stronger.

130 yards or w.e it was on 14 carries is fine by me. We utilize Malik Davis or whoever we draft as the 2nd back for the remaining carries and big time cap savings.

Love Zeke, and he does run tough as nails. He’s a grinder.

That being said, he’s a shrine of the Zeke from 16-19. As much as I like what he’s done for us he’s become an average NFL RB.

True. Need to see more of Malik Davis the rest of this season. Can he produce similar to Zeke or not?

The only issue I have with Zeke is that ridiculously overpaid contract. What's Zeke's yearly salary pay? $16 million/year? If Zeke were to agree to cut that pay in half and accept $8 million/year after this season, that would work perfectly to pay Tony Pollard the other $8 million/year to resign and keep him after his rookie contract expires this season. If Zeke refuses to cut his contract in half, it might be time to part ways with him, especially if Malik Davis or another RB can prove they can produce close to what Zeke does today.
