30 other teams didn't sign them despite the low cost.

Maybe they're not that good anymore...

Suh said in his press conference that teams had been calling for weeks but he didn’t think his family would be into it, he has twin 19 month olds. But there’s a guy who works for the eagles who was with Suh in Miami and in LA that knows them well and talked him into it, said this was the place he needed to go to if he was coming back. His wife agreed but his mother was against it…. But Suh said she always wanted him to play soccer so he’s ignored her for 20 years haha

The eagles signed them because they have two NTs on IR. If they hadn't signed them these guys would have stayed out of the league and would be retiring.
:hammer:Risens an eagle fan , love shim some winytzy,,.all the eagles news being allowed here when we aren't playing them for long whole also is suspect.. we have double spies all over here..change it to the eagles zone.

it’s the team that picked a 32-year-old and a 34-year-old defensive tackle 10 weeks into the season, Both been sitting at home watching TV.
so you’re saying that Suh and Joseph are the key to a Super Bowl huh ??What kind of nonsense is that?

I guess everybody else decided to leave them at home and waited until game 11 came around to get these factor players, Right, that’s exactly what we need, 2 aging defensive tackles like when we picked up poe & McCoy and others?? I mean these dudes are older and they are not a key to a Super Bowl.
.
You have to have a need, we’re not getting beat up the middle as much as we’re getting beat on the edges, has little to do with our defensive tackles.

that’s what Jerry’s trying to say like who are they going to get rid of an order to make room for these two dudes at the Eagles picked up ??the Eagles have actually injuries along the defensive line they’re missing guys in the middle.

so they picked up dude’s for the middle..it was big need not move to make them better..more like to hold down area of concern.

Everybody who keeps saying it they don’t care about winning a Super Bowl because every move the Eagles are only making because the team has won one Super Bowl since 1960, there is a blueprint for success.:muttley::popcorn:

Thanks for the info.

It really irritates me that an Eagles fan has more rational posts here than many people that claim to be Cowboys fans.

How often does it work out when 35 year old players have to be coaxed to return to playing?

Heres a weird stat: Brandon Graham, Linval Joseph, and Ndamukong Suh are 3 of the few players remaining from the 2010 draft… all not only on the same team but the same position group on the same team

The Eagles had opportunities open to fit these two guys on their roster. The Eagles not not have to cut anyone to sign Suh and Joseph. The Cowboys could have signed them but most like it would mean cutting two more DTs. I think Joseph and Suh will be better than Gallimore and Odighizuwa or Watkins, but I think they are 1 year rentals. But you know if the Cowboys had a couple of DT injuries they would not have signed Joseph and Suh. They would o to their practice squad or someone elses like they have in the past.

We tried this way with the Dontari Poes of the world, not sure is smart, of course if Suh dominates for that defense they'll look smart, but highly doubt it. Real problem of this defense is scheme + attitude, not talent.

Offense on the other hand...

I think most peole realize that Joseph and Suh's best days are behind them.
The point is that the Eagles had a weakness, forced on them by injuries, and immediately acted and went out and signed 2 players who could help them. If they were going to be asked to play every down, yes, they'd be in trouble, but these guys will just be asked to play limited snaps, and perhaps in that role they can still contribute. We will see.

We've had this obvious run defense deficiency for years now. Look at our DT's.
I was high on Osa, but he has now faded into a JAG for the 2nd season in a row.
Gallimore has to be one of the most disappointing players on the team. He is not good.
Hankins and Watkins are JAGS. Don't get me wrong, we need JAGs to rotate and eat snaps, but we need some top end talent too, and that is what we lack. Bohanna really doesn't belong in the NFL right now.

On top of that, we are weak at LB, or least at LB's who can stuff the run.
Micah is an Edge, he plays some LB but he is most effective at Edge.
LVE has been better than a lot of people give him credit for, but he is really just a guy too. He is not the attacking run defender he was as a rookie. Perhaps Clark can help. We've had chances to upgrade, and we've passed. Wagner is currently the #1 rated LB in the league, and was the perfect player for our needs, but we passed. Roquan Smith was traded recently, and we passed.
I think that's the frustration with many fans, myself included.
If we miss the playoffs a lot of it will be because we can't stop the run, and if we make the playoffs but get run over like we did last year, I think we have a right to gripe. I mean we all saw what happened last year as it relates to the run defense, right? And what did we do to address it in the offseason? Drafted Ridgeway, who didn't even make the roster?

So the Eagles saw a weakness, and immediately acted. We on the other hand...
As a fan that's frustrating.

In their prime Joseph was not a better run stopper than Hankins. Joseph had more pass rush ability but similar as run defenders.

Now Joseph is 34 and Hankins is 30.

Suh's effort varies. Nobody knows what they'll get from him. Tampa didn't retain and they know him well.
Had the Eagles gotten Hankins and the Cowboys Joseph, folks would be lauding the Eagles for getting Hankins and crapping on the Cowboys for Joseph.

Agreed. To me, it means Jordan davis will be out much longer.
Yea maybe.
I think if you look at these signings as roster improvements, you can certainly question the how effective these older vets will be, but the reality is they were signed to replace the 2 guys that were placed on injured reserve. If you think you are in the hunt for a possible run at a championship, you spend some cap money on experienced guys to keep up or take some practice squad jags just to fill the roster spots and possibly miss your shot. Time will tell, doing nothing was not an option.
They were very effective last year in limited snaps. . Linval had a ton of tackles and Suh had 6.5 sacks.

Good pick up for them, its just our FO is to complacent when their job is not at risk. Stephen is too busy complaining about cap.
