First and foremost, Kellen Moore called a wonderful game and had a great game plan Sunday.

I cannot stress enough how well Dak played. He played the way a lot of us here have begged him to play. He played within his limits and did not try and do too much. He took what the defense gave him and took shots when they presented themselves instead of trying to force them to materialize. This is the version of Dak that, if we get each week, would be our best path to success.

The running game was the main focus as it should have been and should continue to be going forward. Zeke played well on his limited carries while Pollard showed that he can still be RB1. Pollard is the best playmaker we have on offense and I don't believe it's all that close. We need to do whatever it takes to get the ball into his hands 15+ times a game. He just makes plays.

The WRs also played great. They caught the ball when given the opportunity, fought for the extra yards, and didn't make Dak fit it into any tight windows. They did a good job getting open and beating their man.

The O-Line continues to be very underrated. They did great in all aspects today. The run blocking is still great and the pass blocking gave Dak plenty of time to get the ball out. We don't talk enough about how well the line has been playing when a lot of us thought for sure they would be a weaker link and they have proven not to be.

This was the blueprint for how the offense needs to be ran week in and week out. We focus mainly on the run game and Dak takes what the defense gives him. I believe that playing this way is our path to success on the offensive side of things.

Yep......sure every fan is asking why can't we do this every week/game. I think we can do it more times than not but sometimes opponents' personnel, schemes and whatever just match up well. Hell, why couldn't we do this last week against the Packers? But I agree, the key is consistency week after week.

Sadly the offense is going to change with the return of Tyron and the arrival of OBJ.

The O Line excels at running the ball. I don't recall a team they haven't been able to run against this year if they stuck with the run. So I would like to see the current Line stay intact unless injuries. Also and most obviously it should be featured as it is the key to making everything else work. Do not abandon the run!

Being able to run the ball well and limit the penalties is a game changer for us because it covers our warts.

Being 3rd and long exposes our OLs ability to pass protect and our lack of options at WR.

Great game.

Agree 100%....i also am continuing to see very good things out of Malik Davis. He is showing he can play in this league.

I think the only thing the offense lacked was a couple of longer developing plays where they took some deep shots. The rollout/bootleg before half was perfectly executed and well designed. I think we need to see at least 1-2 more plays similar to this per game. Does Dallas have a guy that can stretch the field? Will OBJ bring this dynamic to the offense? Can Pollard fill this spot consistently?

Good thread and post.

That said, this has been patently obvious for quite some time. I have no idea how the Packers game happened. Dallas was dominating with the run and still somehow went away from it.

I still feel that someone instinctively wants to go to the pass happy, force the ball 20 yards downfield into tight coverage offense. Not sure if its Kellen or Dak but whomever it is has to break that habit. Playing the "keep it simple" offense will have the Cowboys as a legit contender. It should not be understated just how much it helps the DEFENSE even.

Very fair write up.
We are married to Dak with that contract, so we best figure out how to use him most effectively.
It all came together nicely against the Vikes and I sure hope that everyone learned from it.

You forgot an exceptional kicker who hit not one, not two, but three from about 60 yards, re-doing one 60-yard make!

Overall, the game plan was near perfect. We didn't punt until we were already up 37-3. Vikings are not a good defensive team and they got exposed by a near flawless performance by the boys. I don't expect this kind of performance every week, but I'm going to revel in it hoping we get a beat down of the giants. I do know that to do well in the playoffs, teams need to be hot at the end of the season. Early season performance does not amount to much other than positioning. I'm hoping this is the start of a very strong finish.
