Maybe it had to do with the person with whom he was standing, but Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones heard a spattering of boos as he was presented with a boxing award Friday at the weigh-in for the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito super welterweight fight.

WBC president Jose Sulaiman presented Jones with the WBC Man of the Year trophy prior to the weigh-in at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, where a few boos could be heard.

Sulaiman himself has been a controversial figure for over a decade as the head of the governing body. But Jones might have been booed for his team's poor play, which resulted in the firing of coach Wade Phillips after a 1-7 start.

Jones has kept a low profile this week after firing Phillips. He was seen at Cowboys practice Wednesday during the media access period before Friday's weigh-in.

Yeah the overall fan consensus is seems to be quite negative on Garrett so people remain unhappy.

Eh... Really?

Just seems that way to me from reading and listening to comments outside of the small population of this board. I could be completely wrong though. It's polarizing enough that it is tough to gauge.

Was there a poll taken? Do you have the stats to back up that claim? Or are you basing that off your opinion of JG?

I think it's LOW CLASS to boo someone that is trying to win, maybe he should move the team to L.A. maybe that will make some of you happy,

Sportsnation did a poll and about 80% of respondents believed that Garrett would not last more than this half-season. Plus, if you just read comments from fans outside of this board, it's still pretty clear that lots of people are not happy about the hiring. People tend to follow suit on this board bc most of the non-homers get fried. Those who have time to sit at a computer all day and post here are usually able to dominate the opinion flow.

Garrett's track record as OC was poor at best. I should think he needs to coach a couple games before we start comparing him to Tom Landry like lots of people here are doing.

Plus, the man who hand-picked him has about a 33% success rate in terms of head coach hirings, but the kool-aid drinkers don't wanna hear that.

How many other team's GMs are off banging 18 year old girls in Vegas and out collecting boxing awards when their football team is going straight down the toilet?

One of the greatest days in Cowboys history will be when Jerry Jones no longer has any control over the team.
