I wonder if Jerry would ever consider him? He's got NFL experience, His teams always have strong lines on both sides of the ball. He usually has his team ready to play. I am not a hawkeye fan, but I am a fan of Kirk Ferentz.

I am a Hawkeye fan (wearing my Hawkeye hoodie right now:) Great win against Missouri last night. Ferentz is not going to leave Iowa. He has been courted in the past and shown no interest, at least publicly and according to the media. I guess you can never say never...but I feel 99% confident he will not leave for any NFL team at this time.

...they are having big time issues right now. I like Ferentz, but......no thanks. He is a very good coach but too much smoke in Iowa City right now. JJ wont' touch him IMO.

Are they going to reopen the infamous "White House?"

He loves converting TEs into OTs, LBs into DEs and DEs into DTs. And his guys are usually tough all day suckers. Similar player development philosophy as Jimmy, difference is that Jimmy placed special emphasis on speed.

I like Ferentz too. But as a position coach, not nfl HC.

Ferentz loves NCAA too much. No way Jerry reaches for a college coach

About the issues, I know for a fact about one of the issues, but this was beyond his control and I applaud him as well as the kids parents for forcing the kid off of the team until he got his life together.

Ahh yes this is my type of thread. It will never happen for two reasons...

1.) Ferentz just signed a five year extension with Iowa. He and his family genuinely like Iowa City
2.) Ferentz would never work for an owner like Jerry...he is too humble and does not like the spotlight on the team at all times like Jerry has.

Its a shame too because Ferentz's coaching style is much better suited for the NFL than NCAA.

This is spot on and very frustrating for me to say. Iowa got out coached many times this year.

My son and grandson are fans of Kirk - or used to be. They follow the Hawkeyes religiously and they have soured on him. I have watched some Iowa games and while I know he is always in the top third of college teams he doesn't take the next step and makes some strange game decisions in my opinion. I would hate to see him come to the Cowboys.

Iowa's defensive coordinator had major health issues all year and wasn't with the team much.

totally understandable.

the first coach in Iowa history to win three straight bowl games.

let the lynch mobbing commence :laugh2:

Iowa is out recruited by the vast majority of the big 10 because, well who really wants to live in Iowa?

I always thought he was a good NFL coaching prospect. I like the fact that he's been in the league, working with Belichick.

But I don't see it happening now. I think he'll be there for the rest of his career.
