I think once he got hurt teams started to test him more. I remember the Giants throwing a bunch of those quick bubble screen type plays to test him. For a couple of games Newman was only tackling with is right side to avoid his ribs and he did a suprisingly good job of not missing tackles, but I'm sure teams thought they could try to isolate him in space and force him to make or miss a tackle with banged up ribs .

In other news, he also missed about 39

That is complete BS.

Newman is a great tackler for a CB.

Jenkins maybe, no way Newman missed that many.

But no, Newman isnt a great tackler. He's not as bad as Jenkins, but he does give up quit a few extra yards on the sideline every year

Here is a better list for comparison.
His tackle numbers are right around what other cb's in the NFL are doing.

Devin McCourty had 82 tackles/ 69 solo's
D.Hall had 95 tackles/ 65 solo's
Brent Grimes 87 tackles/ 76 solos
Terrell Thomas 101 tackles/ 81 solos
Charles Tillman 82 tackles/71 solos
Richard Marshall 88 tackles/74 solos
Nate Clements 82 tackles/72 solos
Antoine Winfield 91 tackles/ 73 solos
Charles Woodson 92 tackles/76 solos

W/e you say champ. I know what I see , you are free to think what you want.

Newman is the best tackler in our secondary and there is no doubt about that.

Sensi misses plenty of tackles, he is the next best.

This kind of surprised me, but I went and looked at NFL stats and found that while it is a high number of tackels for a CB, it's not exceptionally so. There were 16 other CB's in the NFL last year that had more tackles than Newman, some who played for weak defenses and some who played for strong defenses, including Pittsburgh and GB.
