#Cowboys 4th rd pick David Arkin said he was at the mall when Jerry Jones called: "I was like right about to walk in," he said.

were his pants pulled up?

Arkin's an experienced, durable offensive guard prospect with the intelligence, work-ethic and toughness to make it in the league as a reserve and possibly a starter down the line. Improving his overall technique as a pass and run blocker would go a lot way in moving him up a depth chart. Needs to do a better job with his hands, sink his hips more and watch his pad level. Displays good awareness. Has the killer instinct that can't be taught and we don't expect him to be afraid of the jump in competition.C/0 Nfl.com discription.

I personally don't know to much but from the Nfl.com discription what i love is has a killer instinct and loves competition. That's a good start. I'm happy at least were handling our line needs.

Round 5 pick:Brandon Burton CB-Utah or Devon House CB- New Mexico St

I like the pick. Good movement skills and plays with attitude. The OL will be looking a lot better.

Look, not saying I hate it, and obviously will defer to the members on here who know more about these players than me. Just saying I was hyped after round 1 thinking we would get 3 starters from first 3 rounds. Thought there was good guards available in 2nd etc. D-ends...Seems like we took alot of developmental 2-3 year guys, not imediate plug in and play guys. Plus I wanted Salas in the 4th : ) Hope the scouts had the imput we think and not our old friend larry. I will take the wait and see attitude, - like any of us have any other choice anyway.

I think that the developmental guys are a good choice. I am not convinced that this team is in need or rebuilding, just refocusing. The greatest potential weakness on offense was shored up, and the rest look like they are projecting for two years out, with Brooking, Barber, James, Kosier all being gone. If everyone on the roster now plays to potential, Carter, Murray and Arkin won't be essential to this year's success.

I like Kosier but this guy sounds like an ideal replacement.

It's time to move on from Kosier, he did a decent job, however he is hurt too much Resign Free but not Kosier.

Excluding 2008 when he was injured all season, he has played 64 of 67 games since he was a lineman.

No it's not. It's time to move on from Davis, though. But we won't do it yet with this pick.

He may be replacing Bigg rather than Kosier.

I'm loving everything I'm reading, hearing, and seeing about this guy. Tough, physical, smart (already graduated, 3.7), good size, mean streak.

Hopefully, the guard version of Doug Free, another small school guy.

I just listened to his call with Jerry and Garrett and he seems really excited to be a Cowboy! I think it's a great pick!

You know, this is actually one of the main reasons I love the Arkin pick. I really wanted Carimi because of his attitude. Glad we could get a guy like this. Everyone was hot on Boling, but somethings I've read call him too soft for a big guy

Actually my favorite pick thus far, all things considered.

The thing he'll need to work on is his strength and ability to anchor --

4. DAVID ARKIN Missouri State 6-4½ 300 5.34 Projection: 4th round

Started 31 games at RG and 13 at LT over four years. "I think he can fit one position: center," one scout said. "The kid's very competitive and he's smart (30 on the Wonderlic). He really struggles to anchor at guard. At the (East-West) game he just got his (expletive) slung around. He did practice it (center) but never played there. He needs to be in a zone-stretch scheme so he's running off the ball to the outside number of the player and then he cuts him. He can't survive any other way." Two scouts said he was better than ex-Packer Allen Barbre, another blocker from the school. "It's nobody's fault, but the strength program there is always behind the curve," another scout said. "He must continue to redefine his body and get stronger so he can become more explosive on contact."

I think they take a shot at Cannon in 6 or 7 if available.
Cannon is getting ready to have chemotherapy for (I believe) for non Hodgkins lymphoma. He will not play this year and his career is probably over. He will not be drafted if the info above is correct. It is a real tragedy for a fine young man.

You don't like T. Smith?

Odd.

Smith's undersized and passive...everything you don't want in an Olinemen.

Plus I've heard a few things that he wasn't the hardest worker.

Not worthy of a top 10 pick.
