Some friends and I (all Cowboy fans) were talking last night and a debate started about who was the most under appreciated Cowboy of all time.

My pick was for Harvey Martin. He is the all time leader in sacks for the team with 113. (Ware will probably break that this season.) But Martin is neither in the HOF or the ROH (which is a travesty). He was a complete terror on the DL and he was named Co-MVP of the Super Bowl with Randy White.

Who do you think would fit into the under appreciated category?

CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
Dexter Coakley.

He's gotten us a ton of players through trades.

For me it would be Danny White. He gets hell for never getting us over the hump but he maintained a top caliber team AFTER a HOFer like Staubach went off into the sunset. During that era, he was one of the very best but doesn't get anywhere near the appreciation he should.

L.P. Ladouceur ... seldom ever thought of by fans, but he's done his job among the best at his position his entire career. Maybe not the MOST under-appreciated, but I wonder how many have ever bought LP's jersey to add to their Cowboys gear? Poor ole Long Snappers just ain't got the "street" cred. LOL

At this point, I go with Tony Romo.

I'd have to agree. Obviously there are a lot of others that could be named. But in this era of internet and 24 hours news coverage, facebook, twitter, blogs, and etc., rarely does he ever get credit for something. If we win, it's in spite of him, if we lose, it is because of him. I understand he is the QB, and they have a "record" (dumbest thing EVER). But the average fan doesn't appreciate what he does. Just because you can tear it up on Madden doesn't mean it should happen in real life.

Tony Romo. No doubt in my mind. The guy is the 2nd highest rated quarterback of all time, yet he gets treated like a JAG because he is surrounded by a failure of a team.

It was Danny White. Now it is Romo.

This fan base that constantly berates the guy and does not appreciate that he is a quality QB is so incredibly short-sighted.

QB is so important, and yet our fans forgot the Qunicy/Chutch/Stoerner/VinnyT/etc years. So they constantly berate a guy who is a good QB.
