Doesn't sting in the least, because it's obvious that disagreeing with the way Jerry runs things and the job he does doesn't make you a Commanders fan.
It has NOTHING whatsever to do with Jerry Jones. Is it possible for you to get over that fixation?

Wait, what? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your meaning here, but are you saying Jerry has nothing to do with the way the Cowboys are run?

That criticism that sounds like Commanders fans isn't about Jerry.

I honestly do not care if you guys criticize Jerry if you actually make sense, but most of the time that isn't the case. Emotions play too big a roll.

This thread has become about Jerry Jones, but that was not the intent of the OP. It was to show how in depth teams study who they are going to Draft and sign as Free Agents and trade for.

It was meant to show that NFL teams are professional organizations making business decisions based upon input from a lot of sources. It has never been about one man's ego for any team since the days when the NFL was a fledgling trying to get its wings.

What you guys took as praise of Jerry was really nothing more than exactly what the title said it is, how talent is evaluated. But look how emotions got pushed.

You guys are so hung up on him that I wonder how thin the line really is between love and hate. If he were to die I honestly think some of you would be sad as hell because your patsy is gone. He's the binky for bad times.

Not for me.

You guys. You guys. You guys.

Seems like 'us guys' are not the only one hung up on something. If somebody is critical of Jones and the way he runs things, they are thrown into the 'you guys' category. I'm sure there are people that like to whine about everything. Trolls come in both flavors, both hater and homer. And there are people that are critical about the team, and still see good things. People like Risen Star, Dodger, Chocolate lab, just to name a few posting in the last few pages of this. To paint anyone that's critical with your broad stroke is asinine.

And as far as Jerry dying, I'm sure there will be people happy over it. And there will be people who are sad. But I sincerely doubt anybody's sadness will come from losing their patsy. A shock value statement. Nothing more.

It's how you act CL. You guys sound more like Commanders fans than you do Cowboys fans and I'm really sorry if that stings and stinks, but it is the truth.

What?

How does being unhappy with the performance of the team over the last several years make us Commanders fans?

Let's see.....Dallas has been, for the most part, awful for the last 15 years. Comparable to the perennial cellar dwellers awful.

So, because we think that is largely due to the inability of the GM to bring in enough talent to win, we are somehow Commanders fans?

:lmao2:

Every time I think this thread can't more ridiculous, you step it up a notch.

... time to let this die.

The thread is not informative anymore, has gotten far from the OP's path and isn't going to amount to any good from here on.

I thought that was a little curious, myself. When I think 'Commander fan', I think of somebody that is deluded. That every move made is the right one. Every player signed or drafted is super-uber-awesome, and better than anybody their rivals have at the same position.

Sort of like some people here.

What he really means is "Don't bring the rest of us self-deluding homers down with your facts, rationality, objectivity, honesty, and inconvenient truths." Cognitive dissonance forevah!

You need to look up the meaning of cognitive dissonance. They are not contradictions juxtaposed. Additionally, 'facts' are not the basis beyond gross generalizations. it has been pointed out multiple times that the pessimism-as-virtue-crew does not know the inner workings of the day to day. And as Hostile points in his attempts to outline the factual structure of the organization, the crew often misrepresents the structure.

What we get in response is typically the 'one constant since 1994' drivel or other similar generalizations. Generalizations are aids in understanding and in most cases not factual as a result. This ain't general relativity we are talking about.

"...'facts' are not the basis beyond gross generalizations."

In the next breath...

"And as Hostile points in his attempts to outline the factual structure of the organization..."

Also, funny that you point out Jones' skeptics as "not knowing the inner workings of the day to day." Yet, you completely buy into the given explanation prima facie, and argue from it as if it's the undesputable truth.

This is no shot at Hostile, but the comical aftermath that has stemmed from his original post.

I trust Hos and I know he has inside sources. Lets just say he did not make up the OP out of thin air. It was a this guy reports to this guy and his job description is and not dumbing it down to Jerry as everything. Thats why such umbrage given by the local curmudgeons: it by virtue of its approach contradicts their assumptions.

During last offseason it should be obvious that i do not just take Hos tabula rasa. That being said the OP was pretty cut and dry hierarchy.

And what is the basis of the dispute? Other inside information or just regurgitation of the same dumbed down generalizations?

It's not "Jerry as everything", but I think it's pretty clear that Jerry does more than read some reports and phone the pick in (as the OP asserted).

There is no such thing as an impeccable source.

But there is such a thing as an unreliable source (aka, your specialty).

The guy who told me Tampa actually works for the Cardinals, so he was sure they were not getting it.

Sources at two NFL organizations? You're sooooo connected. :laugh1:

It is more than 2, but that doesn't matter.
