Demarco Murray's amazing night

Simply put, the run blocking last night was pretty bad. The pass protection was average at best.

But dang it if Demarco Murray didn't will his way to a big night anyway, including 111 yards in the second half! More impressive was that he only got 3-4 plays with good blocking

Most of the time, Murray just slithered through small cracks he could find in the scrum, and of course, he had the big run on the broken play where he just refused to go down (until the end; why didn't he just run down the sideline and score?).

My favorite part of Murray's game: Did you see how he finished runs by just pulvarizing the linebacker or defensive back at the end of the run? He about knocked Rolle's head off, and he finished off Blackburn with a nice stinger. He finishes runs like Adrian Peterson, who preceded him at OU.

What a tremendous weapon Murray is. He covers up mistakes and dictates to the defense. He helped keep Romo clean late because the Giants pass rush had to overly respect play action.

Romo was great, as were others, but it was Demarco Murray who changed the momentum in Dallas' favor in my opinion.

...and I forgot to mention, if Murray makes a couple of cuts downfield instead of running into his blockers, he might have 30-40 more yards in that game.

Gotta knock some rust off, I guess, but Murray gives us a weapon we haven't had in a long, long time.

His vision at he end of runs was pretty poor. Several times he had a chance to avoid the tackler and gain at least a few more yards. Instead he went for the Marion Barber high impact collision and even then he wouldn't keep his head up. I hope the RB coach reviews his film. When he was tackled by Bryant on that one run it was absurd. I hope he stays healthy with that style. He definitely won't have a long career with it.

Yeah, on that broken play I was wondering why he cut back inside? Dez had him covered all the way to the endzone it looked like to me.

Oh well, he did a hell of a job last night.

Quite puzzling. He started off the year like that LAST year...not seemingly having a feel for where the defenders are...but got MUCH better later in the year. So I assumed he would pick up where he left off...but I agree...he seemed like he ran AWAY from daylight. Could he need a couple of games to get his bearings? If that is the case...that is ODD for a RB...which is very much so an instinctive position. So I would be puzzled why his instincts look top notch at times...and somewhat pop warner like at other times.

I agree with everything you've stated except for this part. I think momentum shifted in second quarter when JG made adjustment and decided to set up run game by throwing more short passes, until that adjustment, we couldn't get much going, Giants D-Line was stuffing runs.

^^^This. When we stopped playing scared...we put the Giants on their heels..and they were never the same.

I think youre right, but i definitely think the offense fed off of the defense getting the stop after the pick. They score a td it might be a totally different game. Its nice to now at least have hope that the two units will be able to feed off of and help each other this season

Remember last year when we all screamed about Red not making the changes at halftime? Now he's doing it on the fly. Refreshing for a change isn't it?

Agree. I do not recall a game in the post triplets era where I saw more players choose to meet the challenge head-on and unabashedly.

its kinda cool what the offense can do when it realizes that if they make a mistake their d still has the option to hold them to a field goal.
