Did Romo intentionally throw the TD pass to Miles too high?

I just re-watched the game. Did Romo intentionally throw the TD pass to Miles real high as to if he was not going to catch it, it would go out of bounds? Right before the snap, he audibled into "kill, kill, kill", he bent down and did this motion with his hands towards Miles that Collingsworth called "a yak hand signal". As he was standing backup to take the snap, while still looking at Austin, he motion both his hands upwards as to say it's going to be high.

Also up to this point, they have been running slants all day. Miles faked a slant, then burst up the sideline before jumping and extending to come down with the catch. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but if that is what actually happened, that is a great adjustment by Romo and Austin.

Very possible man... good insight into the play.

He threw it up so only Miles could get it. It's exactly what people have been asking for.

Oh yeah. Miles is a 6'3 guy with hops.

I've come to the conclusion that the only thing that can stop Miles Austin is his hamstrings.

He is an amazing receiver when we can get him out there.

He threw it where only Miles can attack the ball. Tyran is only 5'8. Romo exploited the mismatch and faked out the safety over the top with the pump fake before throwing it. That is why Rolle misjudged the ball.

That was all Romo.

We have seen that exact play from Miles a few times before so Romo knows what he can do. Most WR's run under that pass but Miles cuts in front of the DB and picks it out of the air.

I think it is like a back shoulder to them.

Yep.. top 5 in the league and thats not an exageration on my part. Romo and Austins connection is amazing. They have A+ chemistry. Similar to Manning and Wayne a few yrs back. Alot of Austins greatness is from intangibles thats why he will be a good asset for us until his mid 30s.

Absolutely, Miles was covered and Romo wanted him to either go up and get it or have it go over everybody.

They had the same play in the Titans game in 2010. The pass is designed to be a jump ball that only Miles can have a chance for. The play from the Titans game is on youtube somewhere.

They've done that play several times. Believe first time was several years ago possibly in Austin's first big game coming against the Chiefs. By throwing it high to Austin, no one else makes the play but it also allows Austin to split the 2 defenders & take it in for TD. Great play and the 2 do it to perfection.

Yes, it's pretty much a high back shoulder throw that a defender has no shot at getting a hand on but the WR can track it and adjust to it. It looks like a bad throw sometimes but Romo threw it exactly where he wanted to. Had he thrown a regular pass to Austin where he led him slightly, it would have been picked by the safety or broken up by the CB. He threw it where only the WR could find it.

They've done this before. So Romo and Miles know Romo is going to put it on a spot where Miles has to go get it...I know they did it against the Falcons or the Titans with the same results.

You are correct. That was the first time we have seen that play.

Change the color of the uniforms, and you would swear it was the same play from that game.

They did that in the SF game too.

Probably his greatest TD to date!

Are we surprised by this?

Romo is awesome, and Romo to Austin is a deadly connection.

I hope MA is working with a hamstring specialist, if there is such a thing. :D

We need him on the field.
