This device looks and sounds fantastic. I predict BB will recover a percent or slightly more of market share (around 3.8% now, could see this lifting them back to 5%). I am under contract until March '14 with my S3 but will consider Blackberrys followup device next year.

Any other opinions on the new device/operating system?

Right now I'm due for an upgrade, but I'm still not quite ready to go full touchscreen. Fingertips are too fat.

I have a Torch which has a keyboard and touchscreen. If I get the Z10, I may use the Torch as a 2nd phone.

From what I read, it doesn't exactly change the game, but it at least gets them in the game. It's a nice, viable touch screen phone.

Goes without saying, but note that not all touch screens are made equal. Some are noticeably more precise and easier to use than others.

Yeah, I'm sure.

Count me as one who is not a phone aficianado. I have simple needs. I really wouldn't know the difference, which is why I have the Torch and not some of the latest and greatest phones.

cnet review: http://reviews.cnet.com/blackberry-z10/

Buy the BlackBerry Z10 if you:
-Have been waiting for a new BlackBerry for a long time
-Prize personal and corporate security
-Like the idea of a wholly gesture-based OS
-Seek an iOS and Android alternative
-Love to give an underdog a chance

Skip it if you:
-Have no patience to learn a new UI
-Rely on walking or public transportation in maps
-Prize a wide breadth of apps to choose from
-Seek a strongly customizable OS
-Prefer buttons to gestures

As you can see, but didn't, I wasn't LOL'ing at the OP. I was laughing at RIM. They are so out of touch with smartphone users these days.

The similarities to iPhone 5 has been noted in almost every review of the BB.

How do you like the S3?

I have had it since launch day and I am still finding new features. It crashes a lot however. I do prefer it the iPhone at this point.

Blackberry will be torn apart with a lawsuit from Apple. Their product design and look of the OS will cause apple to get their underwear in a bunch again.

I like the fact that its all software and no home button (like my nexus), interested to see how the gestures based movement works (no i've never used a playbook.)

I'm sure they have cross-licensing deals. Most major tech companies do, which prevents them from all suing each other. Every major tech company uses IP of every other major tech company. They simply negotiate for the use of their tech in major cross-licensing deals every few years.

Samsung, like many other Korean tech companies, prefers to just use other's IP and risk the court battle, rather than negotiating. Not saying it's right or wrong, but that's what they do. It's their business decision, and they can choose to take that risk if they like. But you can't blame their competitors, most all of whom are willing to negotiate with one another in cross-licensing deals, for taking them to the woodshed for that business decision. Samsung has a very bad reputation in the tech industry for just stealing and using things, and this came about long before the iPhone.
