What makes you guys think he wants to play football? The whole reason he was released was because he didn't want to play football...

I judge them by watching games and grading them. I know that a difficult concept for many to understand.

You do realize that OL and the Pro Bowl is and has been a joke for years. Benched players or terrible players (Saturday, Pouncey....) make it based on name recognition or draft status.

And Dallas nabbed Donaldson over a couple of other teams bidding for his services. Yes he was a veteran but I don't remember any serious talk of his retirement when he became a FA. Houston signed Stepnoski and Dallas overbid for his services. If you want to really delve into that line, knowing what we know now, Kennard could have been the center and Stone could have started at guard.

That's what is being debated, does he not want to play football at all or does he want to play football close to his family in Texas?

Clearly he didn't want to play in New England when his family is in Texas. Now I am not saying we should sign him, I am just signing that giving him a call and kicking the tires might not be a bad thing.

The question that has to be asked is "Is he better than Livings or Bernardo"?

I know that Pro Bowls can be taken with a grain of salt, particularly later in a good player's career when they make it primarily on reputation. But this guy has SIX Pro Bowls under his belt. So IF he has anything left in the tank, the Boys should take a look at him. That's all I'm saying. Boys need one more guard and either a starting RT or swing T. I am worried that they are not serious about upgrading the OL....... What does your film assessment of Waters tell you?

You're not talkinga about some 24 year-old kid who lost a season due to an injury.

You're talking about a soon to be 36 year-old who has done anything football related in almost a year and a half now.

I know it because Waters has proved it. As recently as the last time he suited up. One season removed from a pro bowl is still light years ahead of any of the interior OL that played last year. It is laughable that YOUR opinion is more valid when Waters and the Cowboys OL have already proven YOU wrong.

Is it more important to be right, or to improve? This OL is in serious need of both talent upgrade as well as some confidence. Waters is a stopgap no doubt but his presence would not only enhance the OL's performance but provide leadership & stability to an inexperienced and inconsistent unit.

Waters is a proven commodity. Even if there is a drop off at 36 (not really old for OL), he is still closer to pro bowl level than Livings, Bernadeau or Arkin will ever be. All three guys are journeymen or LESS. Again, Waters is the better player.

When a guy is under contract, and decides to sit a season out, and he is really up there in age... you don't go after him.

I doubt he even wants to play anymore.

It's probably something that we as fans would never have heard about unless it reached a higher level of seriousness from both parties.

i think he will just retire. a 36 year old guy who has'nt played in a year. when the pats signed him i would have loved to have had him but that ship has sailed

I would prefer Brandon Moore. His knowledge of Callahan's system would be very helpful. The Cowboys need consistency on the OL almost as much as they need talent.

Ripe like a decomposing body?

Missing a year for any reason has a huge effect especially when you are "over the hill" in the sports sense. If he lost desire it is worse than having season ending injury, its hard to recalim desire. I will pass on Waters.
