With Andrus and Kinsler entrenched in the infield, where can Profar possibly play for us in the future besides LF? If he doesn't want to make that change, then the Rangers have to try and get the most value out of him in a trade. I don't see that decision being made before the trade deadline, though.

He can play 2B with Kinsler sliding to 1B or outfield.

There is a nasty rumor going around that the Rangers might be willing to give up Profar for garza from the Cubs... Im a Cubs fan first and Rangers fan 2nd but I think this would be a horrible deal for the Rangers... Even though Profar has struggled lately if he was given a chance to start everyday he would settle in and be a very good hitter imo... What do yall think?

0% chance that happens. You don't trade Profar for a guy like Garza, especially not to rent him. Only for a legit TORP or stud bat (Stanton) with multiple years of team control.

Reports are that the Garza deal is all but done.
The only thing that would block it is some sort of health surprise. That is doubtful given how dominant Graza has been the last 6 starts.

And no, the Rangers are not parting with Profar or any any of the other top players that the Cubs wanted. They will be parting with a pretty good young pitching prosect, but not one of their very top guys.

yeh I heard reports it was a 6 player trade so it may turn out that the rangers are getting Soriano or Dejesus in the deal as well... Olt seems as though he will be a Cub, which Im not thrilled about. I think he is a 4aaaa player.

If Olt headlines the trade for Garza (I don't think he will), I'll be pretty annoyed that they didn't trade him for Greinke last season.

Seems pretty early to be labeling Olt a 4A player, though. He's got above average defense at 3B and legit power, he's just probably not going to hit for average (unless Manny has worked miracles with his swing).

If it's Olt and Rameriz for Garza, it would not totally surprise me.
But I heard there was a snag in the final hours and now other teams may potentially come in.

Losing Olt really isn't a huge deal. I haven't kept up with him lately but last I remember he was really struggling. Plus, we already have Beltre at third and if he was to play first it would create a real log jam for Profar. We need pitching real bad, and if we can get healthy with adding Garza we are in great shape.

I'd argue offense is a bigger need than pitching, but I'm fine with this trade I guess. Definitely annoyed we weren't willing to part with Olt for a Greinke rental last season, though.

This pitching staff could be pretty stacked once everyone gets healthy (rotation of Darvish, Holland, Garza, and two of Ogando, Harrison, Colby, and Perez). Just hope they get some run support.

Pitching is always more important than offense especially in our ballpark. Problem is, when we lose Cruz we are going to take a huge power hit. We still have plenty of offensive talent and speed though.

Pitching is more important, but that doesn't mean we needed it more. Our pitching has been much better than our offense this season, in spite of guys like Grimm/Tepesch being in the rotation for practically the entire season. Getting healthy in the rotation would have been just as good (better, actually) as trading for a SP.

Well, if we get healthy and have Garza our rotation is about as good as you will find. That is an outstanding rotation for a post season run. We still have the weapons to be able to be one of the better and more versatile offensive teams in the league. It's not like Olt was going to help this team any time soon. He's also hitting .219 this season in the minors.

Rangers won't make the playoffs the way their playing now so it looks like this trade will be for nothing

Jon Daniels is an aggressive GM that's for sure. But it looks like we're going to have to generate offense from within the organization if we're going to make it to the playoffs. I don't think he can risk giving up more prospects for a guy like Alex Rios, given that 1 bat isn't going to make the difference. We need to get more production out of Mitch Moreland and some of Baker, Gentry, Chirinos, Profar, and M. Ramirez.

Hunter Pence is another guy the Rangers could go after but I agree they are better off going within the organization. I don't know who they could trade and it would really thin out the prospect pool.
