Considering all the handwringing we've had to endure about Barry Church - particularly his 40 time and that of course he'd be EVEN SLOWER after his achilles injury... tell me you weren't entertained by his play on Sunday night?

The guy was all over the place laying the wood, cleaning up the mess, creating turnovers and returning them as well. In short, he was a bit of a pain in the collective buttocks of the Giants.

Hopefully those that were overly concerned about Church's roll in this defense can relax a little bit. Even if he doesn't get a single pick this year, he can still be a huge asset and frankly, it's about time we had a safety that can tackle someone.

Picked up where he left off.

He has his haters on this forum but the guy just makes plays.

I like him.

We don't have thread(s) yelling about Church and his play, which means he was doing something right. If he was screwing up there would be multiple call out threads about him.

Hopefully he stays healthy and stays on track to have a great year.

He looked rather sloppy in the open field in preseason. I dont know what I'd chalk that up to but last night he looked like one of the best pure tacklers we've seen in the secondary in some time. He was squaring up the runners, going low, and wrapping up. Absolutely perfect technique.

Honestly, considering how he came to the team and the knocks on his speed, Church somehow escapes the hate I'd expect to see from him. He gets his share of doubters, but it could be a lot worse.
He did play well last night, though. He's a really good tackler, and that helps.

He did...which game was it in particular? AZ? He was taking bad angles and trying too hard to blow people up. Looks like he settled down last night, though.

I dont remember if it was the AZ or Oakland game but it was one of those two where he was doing what you described. Definitely cleaned it up last night.

Barry Church plans to prove he's a bargain
IRVING, Texas -- It bothered Barry Church to be considered the poster child for Jerry Jones’ foolish spending.

i

Church Yes, Church heard a lot of the moaning and groaning after the Cowboys signed him in October to a four-year contract extension worth up to $12.4 million, including $3.8 million guaranteed. He’s well aware that the Cowboys’ front office was heavily criticized for committing to a largely unproven player who had just undergone surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.

“Every day, I try to go out there and prove to them -- even in practice -- that they made a good choice in signing me to a deal,” Church said. “I know a lot of people were upset about that, but I’m trying to prove the naysayers wrong.

“At first, it kind of stung, kind of hurt a little bit. Like, at least be happy for me. I got injured. At least be happy I got signed for a contract. But I just use it as motivation.”

Church was incredible against the Giants. He was making plays all over the field. All the Cowboys need no is another safety that will play welll beside him. Will Allen is mediocre.

I've been a huge Church fan since his Rookie year. Just love his passion for the game and the way he plays. Just a total throw back player IMO. I have always said he has a little bit of woody in him.

Never wrung any hands, I've been in Church's corner since the beginning. The second he got on the field the first thing you notice is that he is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS around the play. He plays smart and he's more than fast enough.
