Is Garrett on the hot seat? Now I am not saying he will be in jeopardy of being fired immediately if we lose, I am just asking if a loss puts him on the hot seat? Meaning, will Jerry maybe start to think about some what if scenarios and what direction to go in if this thing heads south and we miss the playoffs.

Missing the playoffs when the NFC East is historically bad would be about as huge a coaching blunder as it would get. If you cant win the East this year, of all years, then yikes!!!

I say yes, if we lose to Philly and drop out of first, I think Garrett is officially on the hot seat then. If we then lose at Detroit the following week................well, lets just say that scenario would not play out well for Garrett.

Or we could lose and Jerry says "its a moral victory" and we get more of the same.........status quo.

I think it extremely unlikely that Garrett would be fired any time before the end of the season.

I doubt the won-loss record will be a determining factor, the defense is what will kill this season and Garrett isn't responsible for that.

Garrett is here to stay, unless they go 3-13 this year.

Honestly, I have no idea what Jerry will do if the Cowboys miss the playoffs this year. But if they do miss for the fourth consecutive year, it compels the question: What are the reasons for retaining Garrett? What has he shown you to suggest he's worth keeping around?

The NFC East is extremely weak this season. If you can't get in this year, when can you?

Jerry wants Garrett to succeed. He's his handpicked long-term head coach, so Garrett would have to do something far greater than fall to 3-4 to get on the hot seat. I don't know if not making the playoffs will even be enough (because an excuse is built in with the defensive switch and injuries to the defensive line).

More importantly, if we lose to the Eagles, do you tank?

This team has been mired by mediocre finishes. Are we one top ten draft pick away from really doing some damage?

no way. we have no DL to speak of. and installing a new defense. this philly offense will give us fits, specially with our depth.

Was Garrett on the hot seat after the Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos losses??

The only chance he has of getting fired is if we lose the next 4-5 games.

I honestly don't think that he'll see the hot seat this year, no matter how bad things get. He's Jerry's guy, through and through. Also, the argument could be made that this year is all on the defense, he didn't hire the defensive staff. Garrett's offense is amongst the best in the league (I recognize that he isn't calling the plays, but I guarantee you that he has a say in what's happening on offense).

no, I don't think he is on the hot seat with a loss...we are relatively evenly matched against a division rival on the road (and a 3 point underdog)...if we lost every game up to the bye and THEN lost our first coming out of it, then yes

this is all moot to me as I see us winning by about 7 against philly

He's already on the hot seat. If the Cowboys don't win the division this year he's done.

If we beat the Eagles, will Garrett be on the hot seat a week later if he loses to the Lions?

Laugh all you want, but if Philly wins the division this year and Dallas just comes up short --again-- it will complete the hat trick of losing to all three NFC East teams for Garrett.

I can't see Jerry being too excited about that, no matter how you spin it.

Garrett is already on the hot seat. Was close to losing his job last year along with being stripped of his offensive play calling.

Or more lilkely jerry understands he put Garret at an unfair atvantgae by poorly managing the cap.

Jerry would consider the firing of R.J. to be admitting to making a mistake, not likely. I like the way the team is progressing under him, that said the N.F.L. does stand for not to for long.
