Cowboys-Eagles key matchup: DeVonte Holloman vs. LeSean McCoy
Posted Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013

BY CHAREAN WILLIAMS cjwilliams@star-telegram.com

Cowboys MLB DeVonte Holloman vs. Eagles RB LeSean McCoy: McCoy leads the NFL with 1,476 rushing yards and has scored nine touchdowns. But the Cowboys held him to 55 yards on 18 carries in their last meeting, thanks to the play of middle linebacker Sean Lee. Lee had 11 tackles, including one for loss, with a pass breakup and an interception in that game. Lee, though, will miss his third consecutive game with a neck injury. Holloman will make his second career start at middle linebacker, a position he had never played in his career, dating to high school, until three weeks ago.

To me this is the biggest matchup of the game. And if Holloman can't do it then I put Heath and Wilcox at safety, play the Nickel and use Church as the Mike. It fact it wouldn't take much to make me move that way to start the game. Look for 5 to 7 DBs on the field. Last game Carter got 90% and Lee 100% of the snaps. Sims and Durant got very few.

So while you're evaluating Kiffin and Marinelli don't forget to put that gem in your bag.

Jerry needs to contact his sleeper agent and tell him to slip some Ex Lax into Shady's Gatorade. Strike when they least expect it.

As far as corners what do you see them doing? The bigger WRs look to be a thorn in the side of Carr. Think he would handle Desean and let Orlando hold Cooper?

This right here is what annoys the crap out of me. Bruce Carter played inside pretty dam good once Lee went down last year so why isn't he starting inside instead of a rookie 6th round pick who never played inside in his career? There is no hope for this team with the idiots in charge.

We need to use the nickel packages and have Church as a spy on McCoy. A few hits from Church, right into the lower body of McCoy will have an effect on him. If I recall Wilcox hit him pretty good on their opening drive and he wasn't the same. I could be wrong.

It's rare that McCoy takes direct shots - like Emmitt and Barry he knows when to dip and dive to avoid the squared up licks.

I have a feeling Ertz and Celek will be big factors because of the young LB corps of Dallas

Oh really? I missed where I discussed every position. Learn some reading comprehension, buddy. I was participating in the conversation. BTW "shegals" is cute. Try harder.

I do too. Ertz looks pretty good lately from what I've seen. Don't remember him doing much the first time we played -- had he just not hit his stride yet or what?

Yeah he took some time to really grasp the offense and the NFL. He had 3-33 in the first game but the passing was so poor that game no one really got on track.

He kinda broke out during the OAK game...since then he's been featured more. I wasn't happy with the pick because I thought we needed to go pass rushing OLB but they stuck to their "BPA" approach and took him despite having Celek.
