I don't think CHI has the ability to retain Melton.

If Marinelli stays it seems like a logical choice for Melton to come here anyways.

I don't see why this can't happen once we trim the fat off the cap...

I also like Arthur Jones. He comes from a HIGH pedigree of athleticism within the Jones family(Jon Jones MMA and Chandler Jones)

They all have high motors and don't take dissappointment too lightly... just what our defense needs is some hunger.

Lol, we need early round draft talent at DT and we need several pieces. Nick Hayden should be back on the practice squad.

The DL can't be fixed in one offseason. Particularly on a team lacking resources like the Cowboys. I'm just hoping it gets better.

The OL only now this season showed resemblance of improvement mainly via Smith/Fred/Improved Free. Took two 1st rounders. The DL will need drafted investments as well though Joseph would help seeing as he is so young but maybe not worth the investment (gotta resign Smith/Dez).

They have about 30 million to spend on their FA's after Cutler was signed plus they will free up another 10 million when peppers is released. They have the space if he is priority.

Crawford will be starting DT next yr. Wouldnt mind a DT in FA bu Dallas will have very little to spend. Only way i think they can free up money is but Cutting Free and keeping Parnell but still that only frees up like 2 mil. Dallas will need something like 6-7 mil to sign draft picks. This yr the team is going to be strapped. Dallas is in prime posistion to get rid of all this cap nonsense. Cut a couple of them contracts this yr is a start. in 2015 Dallas can sign Dez, Tyron, Carter with no worries.

By 2016 Dallas could be in posistion to be huge players in FA and will be players for the youngest group of FAs in the history of the league. Most of these players coming off their first rookie contracts of 4 yrs will be 25-27. Build from within. I know Dallas will have to sign some FAs to fill out a roster but i dont see them signing anybody until this first wave of FA comes and goes and sign cheaper guys closer to OTAs

I dunno... xwalker has made a strong case that there will be a few mil available to sign a couple of FA defensive lineman.

XW has made that case 3 straight off-seasons and it has yet to come true.
Much wiser to look at what we've done and likely moves not dream scenarios.

So we didn't sign Waters and Durant and franchise Spencer last season? And Brandon Carr the year before that? Doing that in the middle of the 10MM in cap penalties, along with doing internal moves like signing Sean Lee and Romo to extensions, prove his point.

If Melton leaves Chicago, he probably goes to TB before he comes here. Lovie over Garrett even iv Marinelli is here

And by tagging Spencer they had to take the entire 10.6m cap hit at once. With that much cap space you can sign 3 quality Free Agents by spreading it out.

But he uses that logic ith the 5.5 mil that Austin would save by making him a june cut. The flaw in his thinking is that Dallas cant use that money until after june1

Basically we all agre that they will be under the cap. Only difference in mine is that 5.5 mil isnt being used until after june 1. So Dallas will have about 6 mil to play with in FA.

Melton could jog from his parents house to VR but he is a financial and character risk.

The team can protect themselves finacially by how they structure the contract.

What are the character risks with Henry Melton?

Is he a bad apple? WKG?

We will not cut Ware. It's not happening.

And it's completely unnecessary.

If the team restructures Demarcus Ware's 2014 base salary (12.25M) over the remaining four years of his contract, it will not jeopardize future caps.

Ware would again carry a huge cap number in 2015 ($20.3525M), but a normal release would still save $6.4885M minus the cost of a minimum salary replacing him under the Top 51.

The team would then get full cap refunds in the following seasons.

I understand fans wanting to see Ware take a pay cut, it very well could happen.

If it does, Dallas would have to give something in return, likely guaranteeing the remaining base salary.

When Doug Free took his pay cut, the Cowboys guaranteed his reduced 2013 and 2014 base salaries and added a clause to void the contract following the '14 season.

And in Ware's case, he'd probably want incentives allowing him the chance to earn back the money given up in the pay cut.

That's a lot of bother when there is no downside to doing another restructure.

If Ware doesn't rebound in 2014, the team can revisit taking a pay cut then.

Wootten would probably backup Selvie, I really don't see an upgrade.

If Rod Marinelli likes Corey Wootton and his price isn't too high, let him compete with George Selvie.

Running a successful 4-3 requires talented starters and back-ups on the defensive line.

Bennett says he is back in Seattle and will recruit MartyB.
MartyB has 3 years remaining on his contract in Chicago.

Michael has a chance to get a starting job somewhere but not in Seattle.

Is there a link to him making these remarks?

Exactly Dallas isnt going to sign more expensive guys they cant afford. People say the OL took awhile. Dallas developed this OL. This yr Dallas added 1 element Fredrick. Waters played a couple games but Mack played decent before Waters was signed.

People are just going to except the fact that Dallas just like last yr will sign a few guys cheap before OTAs.

Exactly, a lot of people complain about "cap hell" but the reality is you either do the type of restructures Dallas (and everyone else) does or you watch the post-FA veterans like Romo, Witten, etc walk. You can be "responsible" with the cap all you want, but it will make you the Minnesota Twins of the NFL.

Not quite sure if they would release Peppers... and they have alot of holes on the defense. Alot of them.

Yup, people like to point to the niners, bengals, colts, seahawks ect. But look at those teams in the next yr or two when their players are off those rookie contracts.
