We've tolerated fostering enough dummies on this team to underachieve badly for the last 17 years. No thanks.

I'll take him back. We have plenty of RKGs, but we need NFL caliber DL in a bad way. Plus, being magnanimous with regard to redemption for others is a good idea, IMO. I would let him do his time and give him a chance, along with a short leash.

Most people with addictions repeatedly fail before overcoming it if at all. I don't think they are interested in punishment at this point in time. The public safety comes first then his rehabilitation. There's no reason not to try and combine that in everyone's best interest.

The club has a number of resources to help people in trouble and he needs lots of help. I think right now being absorbed into the community of the team would be of help.

That's not the point. Hit and run with DUI and negligent homicide is not the same. Fleeing and trying to cover it up is a huge problem and that's the difference.

Exactly. Brent did something blindly, criminally stupid and is paying the price for it. But he never tried to lie or avoid the consequences of what he did. He has his criminal punishment at this point and if the team wants to bring him back, its certainly their right to do so.

correct....times a thousand. Kills a teammate blasted out of his mind and good old Jerrah stands by him. More crystal clear judgement by Al Davis Jr. Pretty pathetic and predictable.

What price? Going to jail for 6 months? So Jerry Brown had to pay the ultimate price and Brent gets to lift in jail for a few months and have Jerry Jones come give him a check a few months later because by then he'll obviously be a 'changed man'.

Are you surprised? The old man kept paying Spencer and JRat when they didn't even want to be here anymore. He's lost all credibility with his handling of Brent: total disgrace.

I dont see what Brown's mom has to do with any of this. It sure is nice of her to apologize on behalf of every single person on the road that was in danger of having Brent end their lives too. It isnt her private road, she shouldnt have any influence on the verdict or public forgiveness.

I have read all of these posts and I am trying to distance myself from thinking about him being a Cowboy, thus:

1) if he were not a Cowboy (pre-accident), would you even consider him now?
2) if we had a strong and deep DL, would you want him on the team?

IMO, the answer to #1 is absolutely NOT. If he were on the Eagles (for example), I would want him to never play again. The answer to #2 is a NO as well...but it would be more based on not needing him; so, if not for need, he never plays for this team

This may sound like I wouldn't want him back, but I think if the team stands behind him and he takes things seriously and keeps clean, works hard, etc, then I welcome him back, but ONLY because he is a former Cowboy...otherwise, I defer to #1 above

I'm not against paying consequences. Ten years of probation is a much bigger deal than some appear to realize. If you get this guy to be productive then everyone is better off. Putting guys in prison and off the streets is important to the public is some instances. Some just don't ever need to mix with the rest of us. Ever. But putting people there to punish them and changing their behavior just doesn't work. In fact the opposite often happens and prisons are expensive.

I admit it's not easy to make sure you keep the ones locked up that should be. That's a problem.

The terms of Brent's probation may prevent him from traveling. That would be a huge problem.

The price our criminal justice system gave him. Are you really saying he should get additional punishment beyond the Court's decision?

Call it a hunch but I think if you were convicted of a crime you would feel the court's assigned punishment would be enough - and anyone who disagreed hated America, the flag and apple pie.

Yes I would welcome him back. He needs this team and football and JBs little girl needs support until she is 18.

Absolutely. The courts and the commissioner can worry about punishing him. I hope that he comes back and plays every snap with passion in honor of his deceased friend.
