Former NFL star defensive back Darren Sharper has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is being investigated in connection with three separate sexual assaults. Sharper was arrested and booked Friday and released on $200,000 bail just before midnight, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He faces a Feb. 14 court appearance.

The NFL Network announced in a statement Saturday that Sharper has been suspended without pay, effective immediately.

"Darren has been suspended without pay until further notice, effective immediately," said Alex Riethmiller, a spokesman for NFL Network.

He should have asked Winslow for directions to the local boston market.
I will never understand what pleasure someone can get from forcing yourself on another.
Accusations of Rape is one of those things that can't be undone. Career likely over

Sharper under investigation again for rape. This time in New Orleans.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10344383/police-detail-rape-allegation-sharper

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Police Department released a report Friday detailing the rape allegation against former NFL safety Darren Sharper.

Sharper has not been arrested or charged for the alleged crime, and the case remains under investigation. However, Sharper was arrested last week in Los Angeles on an unrelated charge of suspicion of rape in two separate alleged incidents.

According to the NOPD report, an unnamed woman alleged that Sharper raped her on the morning of Sept. 23, after they met at a bar and he took her to his apartment in the Central Business District. According to the report, which was made on the morning of Sept. 24, the accuser stated that she consumed a large amount of alcohol at a couple of bars. She said she met Sharper at one of the bars, then he later took her to his apartment and sexually assaulted her. She said she did not consent to any sexual encounter.

Last week, Sharper was arrested, booked and released on $200,000 bail in Los Angeles. The LAPD said it is investigating Sharper in connection with two sexual assaults that occurred in the West Los Angeles area, one in October and one this month.

Didn't Mike Tyson do 3 years in prison for rape and then got out and won the heavyweight title shortly after? Ahh the good old days.

Maybe it is just because it's Monday and I haven't had my coffee yet, but one thing that bugs me about the article is the opening line (bold mine); "Former NFL star defensive back Darren Sharper has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is being investigated in connection with three separate sexual assaults." In this country, you cannot be arrested on suspicion. You must be charged with a crime. It appears that Darren Sharper is facing charges from one of the alleged victims. Just a normal day at ESPN I guess.

Add Miami to the list.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10492036/darren-sharper-subject-investigation-miami

Darren Sharper, already charged with raping and drugging two women in California, is the subject of a sexual battery investigation in Miami Beach.

The latest allegations surfaced in a Miami Beach police report released Thursday. It was filed Jan. 19 -- more than a year after the alleged attack. No charges have been filed, but Detective Vivian Hernandez said the investigation remains open.

The report states that the accuser and two friends went to a club in the fall of 2012 and met Sharper and another man. All five left the club at approximately 4 a.m., and Sharper drove them all to his condo. The victim admitted to being extremely intoxicated.

If you are an NFL or ex player and cant get a women to consent sex with you, you clearly are doing something wrong.

How HARD is it to get a girl from a bar to do a one night stand Mr.Sharper?

It's pretty clear this isn't about sex, it looks like a power control and/or domination trait to make him feel empowered.

Maybe so, but that can easily be done without drugs in my opinion.

I liked him as an analyst unfortunately.

According to CNN, the league-owned media outlet has fired Sharper.

Sharper, a 12-year safety was suspended from NFLN indefinitely without pay in January, has various legal protections aimed at ensuring innocent men and women aren’t wrongfully imprisoned. Private business can draw its own conclusions and impose its own decisions. Given the NFL’s clear and important connection to the public at large, misconduct of league employees becomes more difficult to excuse or explain away.

If he is found guilty, .. no second chances, he should be done.

I get so sick of our society letting guys that rape women or molest children have a second chance.

This is pathetic. Sharper is also being charged in Arizona for sexual asssault. Not trying to make light of it but he is the nonconsensual version of Tiger.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10595511/darren-sharper-charged-two-counts-sexual-assault-arizona

PHOENIX -- Former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper was indicted in Arizona on charges of sexual assault and administering dangerous drugs, authorities said Wednesday.

It was the latest development in several ongoing sexual assault investigations involving the 38-year-old Sharper in Louisiana, California, Florida, Arizona and Nevada.

Because giving these types an incentive to permanently silence their victims is such a good idea.

Not relevent in this case, but still relevent.

The pattern he's shown makes putting him away for a decent amount of time a pretty good idea.
