Gosselin: There's one player in this draft who could really make the Cowboys' defense dynamic

So, with all the needs the Cowboys have on their historic bad defense, the under-tackle position is the most pressing. Get that player in place, and Marinelli has a chance to compete on defense something the Cowboys failed to do last season even with Hatcher having a career year.

A dynamic under tackle makes for a dynamic Tampa 2 defensive scheme.

Which is why Pitt’s Aaron Donald intrigues me in this draft.

Completely disagree. I like Donald but to say he will make this D dynamic is ludicrous. Assuming hatch is gone that is the position Donald would poo d play. Hatch was our best player on D last year and led all dts in sacks. No way Donald matches that as a rookie. And even if he did all of those sacks from Hatcher didn't really help. We still had the worst D in the league. Gus whole premise is mind boggling

Gosselin is hoping to parlay this into a 2 more articles. One for when the Cowboys don't pick him and another for why they should have if this guy ever has a good game. Right on!

It makes me wonder what kind of defense the Cowboys could have with Sharrif Floyd and they pickup Aaron Donald this year. Of course it's all wishful thinking.

I would rather be thanking my lucky stars we have a solid 10 year starter at the center position.

If Hatcher was the "under tackle" while having a career year...how did this DL suck so bad? I understand Hatcher was our "only" player outside of Selvie providing a resemblance of a pass rush but that does concern me. I think the ends need improvement just as much (the whole line needs rebuilt so I guess its just a matter of what foundation Rod wants to start with). With more talent, I'm sure the scheme will expand with him running things. He did put up good D's in Chicago. Donald reminds me of L.Glover due to his height/position he will be playing in this D.

He really needs to recover his one true utility, the draft eve thing. Otherwise, he is not any better than any of the mediocre locals. In fact, he's worse at times.

And then you should wonder what our oline would look like minus Frederick. Tony's broken back isn't bad enough?

Mayock has kind've made that irrelevant as well...dude is almost too good with his predictions.

I don't think there's any way we can trade down and still have Donald there. With his years of production, his dominance all week in Mobile, and then his fantastic combine performance, he just wouldn't make it into the 20's, IMO.

He ain't making it to #12 overall. I wouldn't mind Donald at all. But I don't see it happening without giving up something to acquire him. No thanks.

The 10 things, starts with this "Pittsburgh defensive lineman Aaron Donald could be the exact nose tackle the Cowboys need. Here are 10 things you need to know about one of the fastest-rising draft prospects".
Fail.

Hey I didn't know we were going back to the 3-4, and why does he think a guy who's only 288 lbs. can play NT?

Ahh, the state of the media in the internet age. I don't know what I'd do without the internet, but sometimes I think it would be nice to live in the days where the media was driven by people like Walter Cronkite and not Jim Bob that got himself a job down at the DMN while he's still living in his Mom's basement.

You are forgetting the third article he will get, when they Cowboys draft him and he has someone else rated higher on his board that we didn't take, that gives him a week worth of Jerry is running the board and not listening to his scouts....

Although it seems Donald would be a great pick, I would cringe if Mosley or Pryor or Dix is there and they pass.

Mosley especially, he is a top flight LB with a nose for the ball.
