Rob Ryan must be one happy DC, Bailey may not be his old self but he's still a dang good CB & will make up a nice secondary w/ Kennan Lewis, Kenny Vaccaro, & Jairus Byrd

Bailey, Saints Agree To Deal

Field Yates, Adam Caplan and Dan Graziano react to the news that Champ Bailey has agreed to a two-year deal with the Saints.Tags: Champ Bailey, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, NFL, Insiders, Adam Caplan, Dan Graziano, Field Yates
The New Orleans Saints have added one of the NFL's all-time great cornerbacks to the roster, agreeing to a two-year contract with veteran Champ Bailey, the team confirmed Friday.

Terms have not been disclosed.

Bailey, 35, is the same age as Saints quarterback Drew Brees, giving New Orleans a likely Hall of Famer on each side of the ball.

"We are excited to be able to add a future Hall of Fame player with the addition of Champ Bailey," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement released by the team. "His career accomplishments mirror that of his high character and he's a very prideful and competitive player who we believe will add to our defense. Having spent time with him recently and in our discussions with him, I know that he's thrilled to be joining the New Orleans Saints and starting a new chapter in his professional life."

Hmm... no.

At least he wasn't a very good corner last year in the 300+ snaps he played.

He was born in 1978...

Think about that.

I doubt he has much impact.

he can play nickel back or be the #3 safety that Rob Ryan likes

This is actually a guy I was hoping we would go after. Not on a two year deal, though. Could play some snaps at safety, and could most likely do very well as a corner playing mostly zone, especially inside the hash marks.

Not a bad look, Could still draft for the position and Bailey can take said rookie under his wing before he retires.

at worse he becomes a HOF mentor to the Saints DBs

and it's a 2 year/ $7M contract

I still question on how good of a signing it is.

A HOF mentor is a perfectly fine... Not sure how much of an affect it will have though.

We'll see.

I also wouldn't have liked Dallas to have signed him.

Agreed. He was horrible for Denver. They even tried him in the slot......fail.

What'd he play, all of 6 games last year?

He's got a bum foot as well.

I like Champ. He's just football old.

What a stupid comment. There is a big difference between adding a HOFer like Bailey in his prime and an over the hill Bailey. If I'm a Saint fan I'm not thrilled with this signing.

I think he has been overrated his entire career.
