Whatever happened to this kid? I know he was waived injured last year, does that make him ineligible to resign with the club?

I don't think so. I believe waived-injured players revert to injured reserve if no team claims them off waivers (the 24 hour rule applies). I think Dallas released him from injured reserve last year. I think his neck injury was a career threatening one.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Albright was a good special teams guy when healthy; that's how he made the team.

Not to be insensitive but he was another in a long line of players that was oversold. I still recall people saying his lack of a true position meant he was a Swiss Army Knife.

I agree with you. Albright was a stiff, slow 3-4 outside linebacker prospect that was a collegiate DE. He was never going to be more than a backup/special teamer.

The premise being, now we run a 4-3, (and I stipulated he would provide good depth at two positions), and as someone else pointed out ST...nobody is saying he was all-pro...just a legit question as to what became of him, and it has been answered...thanks

He moved on to the hall of football gods, that good he was, you can see him bagging groceries at the local store. Was that a hype fest really not needed.

He got married to an aspiring singer named Courtney. Beyond that, I'm not sure what he is doing. I know he was hoping to get back into the NFL and I assume he's waiting for a phone call from someone. I liked him.

1. Being waived injured the previous year has no effect on the ability to sign that player the following year.

2. Albright had a neck injury. He also had a neck injury in college. My guess is that he decided that playing football was going to be too dangerous for him.

3. Albright showed some ability in RR's defense in 2012. He had really good size as a 3-4 ILB and showed to be faster and better in coverage than anyone expected. He also played some OLB in RR's scheme. He was a DE in college.

4. Even if healthy, he was not a good fit in Marinelli's 4-3 defense. His best chance would have been as a LB in a 3-4.

If they clear waivers, they can either place him on IR, or come to an injury settlement and then releasing them altogether. Obviously they settled.
And that applies to short term injuries, being 6 weeks or less. If it was a major injury, 6 weeks or longer, they can place them on the regular IR without risk of losing them to waiver claims bu other teams.

Lee for example this year is now on IR. Not the IR / Waived list.

I think Albright's injuries had to do with some reoccurring back issues at the time. Now was that the injury he had at the time of his release, I'm not sure.
But when healthy, he seemd to have some potential.

I remember Bryan Broaddus hyping Albright up after that Pittsburgh game a couple of years ago.

He was just a guy. But then every team needs some guys.

And I don't ever remember Alex Albright being hyped by anybody. Perhaps some of you are confusing 'not disrespecting him' with 'hyping him'. That seems to be a recurring theme with some posters every off season.
